Hi, Im trying to find someone who can fit cruise control to a 05 Transporter 2.5 TDI in adelaide. I do alot of country K's and im sick of my foot going numb. also have you tried to use your left foot? its kinda hard!
Its very easy.
All you need is a new indicator stalk with the CC on the end.
Next remove steering wheel.
Remove old stalk.
Replace with new stalk.
Replace steering wheel.
Thread new cable through cowling down to back of fuse box.
Find little plug and plug in(it shows you this plug in the instructions).
Take your van to someone like German Auto and get them to turn the VAG Com on.
There you go...
It takes you about an hour if never done before.
Takes them 10 mins.
Its not expensive and is a very good addition.
Let me know if you need any more info.
Rob
Sorry just re read your post and realised its for a T5 not a T4
Fitted mine myself. While having the not so clear photocopy instruction supplied with kit, it took a little time to find certain junctions. Printed for LH drive not RH. Getting to the juction in bottom of fuse box was a doozy as well. Took me about 3 hours and a lot of swearing. I was also charged an extra from VW to activate with Vag at its last service.

When I bought mine three years ago I asked the dealer about fitting VW cruise. The dealer (solitaire) advised against it. He said unless it comes factory fitted, we don't like doing it because they give us so much trouble. This made absolutely no sense but I went down to supa cheap and picked up an aftermarket magnet, vacuum type and fitted that instead.

Is that on a T5? From what i understand the magnet type hasnt been commonly used for years. but if it works im up for it!

Still see them around and they are available on flea bay. The T5 was a bit harder than the one I fitted to my old VP. These require a cable from the vac actuator to the throttle control body but T5's don't have one. I ended up putting the vac control under the drivers seat and connected cable directly to pedal. Ran the end of the cable around a nylon screen door roller to get the angle right. I also used separate micros on the clutch and brake rather than stuff around with any of the vehicles existing wiring. At the time I was warned that VW electrics are not something you would want to mess with or change. Used 2 magnets on one driveshaft wrapped with tape and araldite.
