The red looks really fire-enginey in the photos, in the metal it's nicer than that!

Love the look of the new front on these. Great in red, congrats on the new van.
My wife and I want to take a look at the Dark Wood colour that they're advertising on the VW site and in the posters. I've wanted a brown car for a while and as soon as my wife saw it she loved it.

Yeah I can't seem to get the colour right in the photos, I think the closest one is the Multivan badge.

            VERY NICE by the way..Rob
Thanks Rob. Initially I didn't want to detract from the Hawk family's new baby. I must say, the Pioneer install is definately a popular one here and now that I'm almost certainly keeping my van one more year (once i source a fair extended warranty) a reverse camera with satnav is top of my list...especially when you look at VW's prices.
I'm glad VW kept the same profile for the centre dash as it means many here with aftermarket satnav's/dvd's can transfer them over with huge savings.

Looking forward to the roadtrip write-up when you're able. How does the hill hold feel and has the initial take-off lag become a thing of the past once you have gained familiarity?

            Again happy and safe motoring.

EDIT: I do have one very important question...does the ashtray rattle when it's pulled out with coins inside....it drives me nuts in my T5.

I haven't noticed any rattles at all, the ash tray was out with both (and none) of the cup holders in use for the whole trip home.

At the moment it's all I can do to resist the temptation to go out and sleep in the van just to soak up that new car smell

The Pioneer ended up being about $350 less than the RNS-510 including the reverse camera (plus it comes with bluetooth and iPod/iPhone integration). We are having a small issue with FM reception but that's due to be fixed very shortly by the install company. Considering the fit, finish and cost I don't know that I would ever get the RNS-510 over the Pioneer. The only thing that is missing (as far as I know) is the visual parking sensor information, that is you don't get the visual queues you do in the stock system BUT the audible tones are still there and I have a full colour reverse camera so it's hardly a big loss.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

So it seems they've fixed it, lol...on a more serious note does glare cause any problems on the screen as I own a Ford with factory satnav that has a "lid" over the screen as part of the dasg and it works well. I've had a few near misses especially with kids jumping between my van and a car parked behind that I have no hope of seeing by mirror and looking over my shoulder. The reverse sensors pick up the car behind already so you don't always assume something "living" is also there hidden.

The screen does reflect a lot, but with the head lights off it's in "day mode" and is perfectly fine. If you put the parkers (or full headlights) on it switches to night mode and then fades out even more making it barely readable, enough for nav, but way to light to be able to easily use the media functions. I'm still reading if there is something I can turn off, bu ton the upside the car is big and bright enough that I probably don't need the parkers on for driving (which I tend to do on longer trips).

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

I've discovered something about the new van...

Geez the red shows the dirt and dust On the upside it's just another good reason for me to go outside and caress... ermmm, I mean wash it

Have to have a good clean before we head down to Canberra on Sunday.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Hey mate, nice Kombi, I was next to you in the Silver T5 on Friday afternoon near Campbelltown. The Kombi badge and the vwwatercooled sticker gave it away.
