Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Devilish,

Just wondering what you found out about your T5 order?

Yeash Matty, Devilish will stick with me for life... Wheels will go on it the day I pick it up!! Then custom bike tie downs in the back with 3 channels...

The Dumbass salesman admitted defeat and he was wrong about my order and couldn't supply it........ DAMNIT!!!

So now I am getting it off another dealer, T5 with the 6 speed auto, but still happy with what I am getting...

Thanks for letting us know....it's a bit of a sore point with me in that the 50% tax rebate runs out on Dec 31 and yet VWA have "no idea" on the potential sales they are costing themselves. At the moment of thinking I'm thinking of keeping mine for 4 years and then trade. I'll get in early and say...please show us some photo's of your new van when it you have it, especially showing any mods...

          No probs Tornado!!

I am getting the 20's put on it the day I pick it up, then the back will get some channels and tie down points to carry 2 or 3 motorbikes, obviously depending on side and shape...

The window tint.... and the list will grow when I find mods I want to do with it...

OH! and I am getting the bumpers sprayed up to match

Does anyone know if you can plug a Minijack plug to the back with Two RCA's for use of an Iphone or Ipod for music on the 2009 T5?

I'm actually looking for a LWB T5 at the moment, but i'm not sure if i should take advantage of the 50% tax break or wait till VW have their "09 plate clearance".

Care to share the price with me? And maybe your tactics?

first tactic, never buy in one day... took me 2 weeks to get the price to where i wanted it to be... emails... phone calls.... Salesman want a commitment then and there, if you prolong it, you can get more out of them as they get more despirate to get your deposit.

Bought my 2008 SSV Ute for $35,000 in December, 08 run out.... that Ute priced up to be $53,000 with the extra's i wanted... All for $35k!! you just gotta choose your words, your time and not be in a rush

As for my other techniques... thats why I am good at my job, cause they are mine hehe

I could be full of ****, but this works for me

Thanks for that! Not the slightest chance you could share the price you bought it at with me? Maybe even send me a PM if you don't want to post it on the WWW?

Originally i was going to purchase a Hiace, but they wanted just under $40k! So i was considering the T5 for a bit more instead!

i don't fit in a hiace.... VW is the only one I do... heheh 6'8'' tall, i got the upgraded seats so I can lower it down hehe

VW's are the best Vans anyways...

Have you test driven a Hiace at highway speeds yet ? I did, and instantly crossed Hiaces off my list of contenders (despite a very large price advantage).
2017 MY18 Golf R 7.5 Wolfsburg wagon (boring white) delivered 21 Sep 2017, 2008 Octavia vRS wagon 2.0 TFSI 6M (bright yellow), 2006 T5 Transporter van 2.5 TDI 6M (gone but not forgotten).

Yes, my father has a TD Hiace. The stability of the van is fairly poor in my opinion, on a windy day you have to countersteer!

A few workmates have the T5 and told me that the handling in the T5 is as good as a small car!

One thing to remember, Holden were massively overstocked with Commodores in the last qrtr of '08 and even lowered their Holden employee pricing because retail customers were getting factory sponsored subsidies that were beginning to better the employee pricing. VWA unfortunately for us are not in the same position today.

You've also got to judge to perfection the point just before the salesman either snots you or orders you off the lot

of course, never be rude about it. Always be friendly and thank them.

Theyare the only ones to rush a sale. You have to slow them down....
