Most likely not, as he said "adapter plates".
It will greatly depend what audio units did you have in the past and how fussy you're about the features and how well they work in the unit. I've installed the ANS710 in my daughter's Touareg, I've chose the ANS710 knowing that if she doesn't like the interface and how the unit operates I would be always able to put it in my van MY05 T5. So, after just one week of using she rejected the unit completely and when I went to install it in my T5, it didn't fit, so be careful when the suppliers say the unit fits Touareg and the T5, you want to see the exact measurements and the pictures of the unit. The right ANS unit for early model T5 (up to 9/2009) is the one that fits GolfMk4.

Back to that ANS710; despite the unit doesn't slide fully in the dash, I left it connected in my van and just testing it to see how well it actually works and yes, it has a few sw bugs when playing from the micro SD card, but otherwise the navigation is excellent, the screen brightness is sufficient, so would I get it again for my T5? If I was buying on price only, then yes. However, for a bit more you can get a branded unit, that will work flawlessly without the need for the additional sw updates.

I purchased a single din head unit with 7 inch folding screen made by Phillips it is a pretty good unit but to get the GPS to work required a GPS antennae and the software this was an extra $300 plus for the antennae and software !!! so all up the unit was over $800 .Okay I keep coming back and editing this as more info comes to light YES Pioneer do make a unit to suit the VW's BUT the actual screen size is only around 5 inch it has no where near as many functions as others and the cost with GPS Bluetooth and other options $3000 . As some others have pointed out you may as well buy a OEM head unit .

I still didn't find the radio replacement for my T5 (not really very high priority at the moment), but would like to fit something in by the summer and now when I've tried navigation in the main unit, I don't want to go back to the stick on GPS, since I hate the clutter of the wires, already have a drive cam stuck to the windscreen.

The 7 inch Phillips was for a T4 not T5 sorry I did not make that clear again it will not fit the tapered slot of the T5 as its wider at the top top and tapers to the bottom . I would make this suggestion if I was buying the Phillips again now having seen the GPS antennae it is exactly the same as the Chinese ones have but it has a USB type connector and the maps were identical as the maps in our Chinese ones so if I could buy the Antennae with the USB connection I would just copy the Chinese maps and save well over $280 .

Miro, a common issue with the ANS radios are that they are not a perfect fit in all VWs .... little tabs at the back sometimes (in some cars) prevent it from sliding in fully. As an example, the ANS420s fits the MK4s perfectly, however in the 9N3 Polos it dont without a mod. Theres a thread in the Polo section somewhere on the fix. I grinded the little tabs off carefully and its now a perfect fit in the Polo. May be the same issue for you?

As you said, on price (at roughly half of RNS510s off ebay) its a winner, especially considering the features (BT built in iGo compatibility) and useability. Personally if I have factory BT in a VW, I'd always fit OEM and if not I'd 1st consider retrofitting OEM BT and the OEM RNS510, they are that good once hooked up. However if these are not doable (in 9N3 Polos) then the ANSs are the only options I'd consider.

I recently fiited a new Eonon to my mothers RAV and whilst OK, it is no match of the ANS. I ordered factory BT in the Amarok and will only fit an OEM RNS510 when it arrives.

This the adaptor I was referring to it would allow you to fit any double din unit to your car made by a major manufacturer , Crutchfield are a big US company and they have some fabulous information on their website , they even helped via their blog to wire up my sons twin voice coiled subs as we had problems .

One last thing whilst the Americans do have some units there would be issues with GPS as I found out last year , a friend imported and converted a Toyota Tundra and the head unit is brilliant but we cannot get any way to update the mapping for Australia even though we have an Australian Toyota DVD disc with maps the head unti refuses to recognize the disk bummer .

The longer tabs at the back aren't the problem. I would have to start cutting the dashboard to fit the ANS710 in.

Okay kordo I think we may have given you too much conflicting information , you have a 2012 model with a standard radio and want to fit something better with lots of extra features is that correct . If so you will either need to buy a suitable double din unit made for the VW . As far as I have researched there are no single din units that will fit the VW's with any extra features , I just had a look at our original factory head unit which is just radio Cd player combined it is built into the factory facia which is what you can upgrade with a factory unit our Chinese or some other brand where available . You WILL need a unit with the CAN BUS adaptor to ensure every thing works correctly . The adaptor plate as I listed is a replica VW facia you can then fit any double din unit into this adaptor which you can buy from just about any car radio shop here in Aus or overseas . Main thing to remember most of the big brands Pioneer Kenwood etc will not have all the features as shown in the ANS series and Chinese ones Sharkie and myself have shown you . Some of the big brands will charge huge prices just to add some features and to get something close to a $500 Chinese or ANS one will set you back $3000 for the big brands .

Every car radio has different plugs and the adaptors are made as part of the wiring loom for each model radio . There are some adaptors to suit some model OE VW radios if you were to upgrade from a basic unit to a higher spec model as it allows for reverse camera and steering wheel control . Do you know that you could get the RCD510 and if you're just after the BT and RVC, then you could buy the VW BT unit and just an adapter for the aftermarket RVC and it would still be cheaper than buying aftermarket head unit and the aftermarket canbus adapter?
That's what I would do. IMO, the RCD510 and the RNS510 are far superior to Chinese units, in the way how they function.

Here is a well known brand alternative that promises CANBUS integration, SatNav and BT (Parrot no less). Mosfet Amp and AVC input for your aftermarket camera! Off eBay for about $750 I believe, also available from any Pioneer stockist. Fits straight into 2012 T5 dash.
