Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Do you go places that warrant these?
        Do they perform better?
What's road noise like compared to the OEM's?

        Also... V-UU... nice

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

As long as they don't rumble on the bitumen they should be able to handle almost any terrain.

I like that tread pattern, hopefully you can get out and see how they handle.

Yes our number plate is a bit of fun...thanks... and we will definitely be going places to warrant the tyres, we used to get to all sorts of "off the beaten path" places in our old Transporter - and as the new one is 4motion we'll certainly be getting to some remote areas, we love camping away from the crowds.

Thanks Bryn... so far they seem to handle our 5 kilometre range limit very well ... heh heh heh

They are a little bit noisier than the OEMs - but it's very slight... and we've tried this brand in some mud & slush in Switzerland (on our god-daughters van) so we know they perform very well... we drove into farmers snowy fields to pick up base-jumpers and I was amazed how much grip they had.
We're looking forward to using them when we finally get out of damn lockdowns... arghhh

And now I have these sitting in my carport, I'll advertise them in the for-sale section - if anyone's looking for some OEM tyres give me a PM.

                    cheers

How much were your new tyres? How do you feel about them now you've had them for a while? Does your van suffer from the insides of the rear tyres wearing before the rest of the tread?

I'm about to post, asking about adjusting the camber of the rear of my van as it suffers from that inside wearing as mentioned above. apparently, the rear camber isn't adjustable. (but I'm thinking, there must be a way to add a spacer to achieve the required adjustment)

I thought that it is illegal to install tyre size that changes the wheel radius by more than 7mm? (not that I care, just trying to ascertain if I am understanding the rules correctly).

I,ll bet half the cars on the road don,t have the correct diameter anyway , like you I,m not concerened as long as I,m not getting speeding tickets . Funnily enough I have been stopped a number of times for RBT etc and no one has even mentioned the fact that my trusty old T5 work van has Commodore Crewman mags on it as they fit perfectly on the stud pattern and only need a small hub ring . One time when I was out towards the northwest of Brisbane I saw the Qld Transport Safety inspectors doing roadside testing of vehicles and I got pulled in for a check , the officer did a thorough check of lights brakes tyres etc . When he was finished like a fool I asked him how come he didn,t ping me for the Holden Mags as they clearly had the lion symbol in the centre , he told me that as long as they didn,t stick out past the guards and weren't bald it was fine . I thanked him nicely and drove off smiling .

235 65 17 a legal size in nsw to my understanding unless you start raising the van as well
