Don’t do it mate, I’m happy to do you a service regen for free (once) rather than have poor solutions inducing fear of tunes amongst the tuning world. I’m happy to discuss various solutions if you’re interested.

What problems do you see occurring with this emulator?

Is your emulator going to stop the egr? But not delete the DPF? The EGR is part of the DPF process and enables it to run hotter to clean itself, no EGR your DPF will block quickly

I don’t see how stopping the flow of the egr can effect the dpf temp, unless you’re only doing short trips all the time and the engines not getting hot enough

Quite a lot of guys in the UK have now fitted the emulator, some have had it for 18mths and more with no DPF issues at all.

If an experienced VAG diesel tuner is saying don't do it - I wouldn't do it.

It’s too soon, 3,000km is not long enough distance. Keep an eye on the DPF health for at least 20,000km

From memory the aluminium particles contaminates the engine oil in the cooler part.
The combination egr & cooler & filter was replaced as a complete unit in my case.
I was told blocking egr without removing dpf will cause problems, I tried it anyway, after about 5000km mine went into unregenerable limp mode with blocked dpf, my understanding is that you need the egr to get the high temperature needed to burn the soot in dpf.
Hi Kombi, What’s the FB group called?

The cooler that corrodes is the exhaust gas to water not the oil to water. There are two coolers in the unit and as the fins in the gas/water cooler breakdown due to the hot gas the aluminium particles are drawn into the combustion scoring the cylinder walls. You then burn more oil and it also gets contaminants into the sump. That’s why if you prevent the gas recirculating back into the combustion by blanking the EGR valve you prevent the problem. Some also join the inlet and outlet of the coolant passing through the gas/water cooler as it’s now not required. Just thought I would post this as the thread was not clear on how the alloy gets into the cylinders. Of course as stated all this also needs a software mod and opening up/removing the DPF filter which would eventually clog up due to no regens taking place.

Just wondering if you has success with the egr emulator and where you may have purchased from.
                            Regards

Pretty sure the Aust dealer for Pendle is no longer around. I tried to find them yesterday to recommend to forum user AEA.
