  • 2015 Multivan replacement rotors and pads HELP!!!

    Hi guys

I have a early model 2015 t5 Multivan. 55000kms and I need to replace the pads and rotors front and rear and it hurts.

Has anyone upgraded to a different kind of aftermarket rotor that isn't as soft and wont wear out as fast? I'm not to keen to spend $1200 to replace both front and rear to have to do it again in another 50k.

I understand the difference in changing to harder types effects braking etc so don't need to go down that path. Just after something that will last and interested to hear from you guys with your experiances.

Also I forgot to mention I'm based on the gold coast/ Australia if that makes a difference.

The $1200 for the lot is actually a good price.

Yeah its not to bad but I'm after something that isn't going to wear out again soon. Not so much the price, I would rather change pads and not pads and rotors every time.

I'm using DBA discs with Italian pads and my front discs go 3 or 4 pad changes before I do the discs again.

It depends where and how you drive and the load you carry. Some people don’t get even 50,000km out of the brakes.

                  That's exactly what I did.

eBay tool for pushing the brake pistons back in (wind on the rears) + rotors and pads from Brakes Direct. From memory it was about $600 or so in parts + elbow grease.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

How long have you gotten out of the rotars form brakes direct "the Hawk" ? I think that's the way I may go, was it fairly easy to change the rotors over?

Check out the video in my thread, it's pretty straight forward. Basic tools (other than the brake winding tool). If you can change pads, the rotors are pretty easy too. I ended up using my cordeless rattle gun made removing some of the nuts a little easier since I couldn't get the right leverege while working on jack stands.

I recommend giving it good hose/pressure wash before starting work, something I didn't do, to make it a little cleaner. As for time, I'm only 6 months in and things are going well so far. The rears can be a little squeely sometimes at low speeds so I need to pull them out and add in some grease stuff to stop that.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.
