Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Hi Dubbers,

I have a 2013 Multivan auto diesel, done 530,000k's. Gearbox was slippping so put it in for new clutch and mass flywheel, $3500. Since getting it back clutch is not slipping anymore, but, drives perfectly 2nd to 7th gear and back down, then as you pull up when it shifts from 2nd to 1st....Donk heavey shift, anyone had this before?

Its been into VW dealer who said they cannot read with a diagnostic tool, back to the garage who did the clutch twice, sent it out to auto transmission specialist to redo the Metatronic base settings and its same same? Am I looking at a rebuild, if so can anyone recommend a reliable company?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can't help with the auto, but how has your engine performed over the years?

Do you have any performance chip box hooked up to your engine? If yes, try disconnect it.

Brilliant, serviced regularly still use it but the 2nd to 1st donk is annoying,
I get around it by knocking it into neutral before it gets down to second gear. Engine seems as strong as ever.

                Fair innings, all things considered.

The gearbox isn't right. Will probably need a new Mechatronics.
