  • Don't Crash Your T6...

Or if you do don't bend the front.

I've just been told that there's no stock of front bumper covers or headlights for T6 in Australia and there will be at least a 3 week wait to get my vehicle back from the repairers.

Couple this with no hire car on my insurance policy and a no from VW about a loan car and I am in some trouble with work.

Not really good enough Volkswagen Australia, I would have thought that bumpers and headlights should be always in stock.

    Poor form from VW!

If you aren't at fault you are still entitled to a rental...

Not with Shannons you're not, no rental cars on their car insurance, I will be shopping around when this claim is complete.

If you aren't at fault you can use a company like 1car1 and they take care of all the expenses and follow it up with the at fault drivers insurance.

They unfortunately can't chase costs from the kangaroo I hit .

jeez, can't imagine what Shannons premium would have been, their quote for my Polo was double what I went with from AAMI

...or could it be that your crash repairer and insurance company don't want to use a new part?
I was lied to by crash repairer when I needed tailgate only to find out that the new part is expensive and they're waiting for a secondhand part.

It might be worth to check the stock and not relaying on your repairer.

I've been assured that only new genuine parts are to be used, which means another radiator with plastic tanks that only has to look closely at a kangaroo to render the van undriveable .

Oh how I would love to fit an aluminium radiator.

Didn't you fit a bull bar? or were you looking at it.

Still a bull bar and a skippy meeting still stuffs the front end.

unless its a bullbar on a Mack

I know I am living in the past but don't you just love when you drive past a fender bender and the road is littered for metres in every direction with bits of body and bumper plastics headlights etc and not much else as there is no steel beyond the chassis .

I didn't end up doing the bull bar, we may investigate again for both vehicles (the other is an X Trail also all plastic),

Once your car is out of factory warranty, the insurance company don’t allow new part to be fitted, your crashrepairer will use secondhand and often reconditioned part. They can use a secondhand part to repair even brand new vehicle.

Next time, try calling the spare parts to check availability and don’t be surprised when you hear, “yes we have it or you can pick it up following day or two.”

B: no new parts in Oz ! And as to using a second hand bumper on a transporter/ multivan, rofl where would you find a bumper unscathed by trolleys and carpark crap that’s over 3 , let alone 5 years old?????
C: this is one of the most commonly damaged bits on a family /suburban transport .

Let’s be honest, most prangs are not major, a vast majority are minor bingles where either the front or rear bumper get punched in at low kph impacts or in car parks . For vw not to have a commonly used part for a current model is putting customers last.
Read carefully my post. The one I posted was a response to the poster with T5 5.2
Have you ever heard that plastic components can be welded?
Or the car has been stallen and recovered?
