I will do it this weekend along with everything else. I haven't touched the car.

Mine did that too - it would also run rich as buggery for a few seconds afterward, as it was trying to correct itself. Could never, ever diagnose it. SAI and all that crap deleted, still did it. Changed MAFs, fuel pressure regs, plugs, all sorts. SO frustrating.

I've also had issues with the idle being a bit off in the past also. Never really had any solid evidence pointing towards any one thing. Being that I have bigger injectors that could be part of it, and mines only ever when cold, once warmed up the bigger injectors idle perfectly. When I had stock injectors my idle was always pretty bang on.

This is def not normal. Has gotten progressively worse, started out as an occasional stutter on warmup to happening all the time.

Thermostat stuck open? When mine was stuck open it would take forever to get to temp (even summer took longer then it should) and then would drop when cruising in winter. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the car dumps more fuel in when the car isn't getting to temp, in the attempt to try and get the temp up?

My Car also used to hesitate/run rough at low speeds, and idle rough when I had an issue with my MAF plug. One of the terminals was to far apart to the MAF sensor pins didn't have a proper connection intermittently and used to get a MAF code because of it. Just another possibility, but again would need a scan to confirm.

That would be the the auto choke on warmup
It's getting up to temp as normal but when running sitting a bit below norm.
I'll get the exact numbers this weekend when I hookup the data logger.

                  No cel/obd codes being thrown

Just changed my thermostat and coolant temp sensor (I did them for other reasons), still doing it. I'm guessing that it's ignition related since the car sounds like it's running on less than 4 cylinders.

Finally all my gear has arrived

VCDS cable took ages even though it was sent express. Doesn't help when the seller sits on it for a few days.
Will buy the vcds lite and log block 032 what I am I looking for? Just log at idle or go for a drive?

The 2.0T coils rocked up today
Will dig out my sai blanking plate and get stuck into it this weekend
One thing at a time and see if I can isolate the issue

Idle is fine. If the values are more than 10% save them and reset the ecu by clearing the fault codes, even if there aren't any.

That will zero the trims so you can see if there rocket out of limits. Indicating a leak.

Before buying the lite version, get it all working with the shareware version so you know it's sorted. There is usually some configuration required. On the shareware, it'll still read faults and a few measuring blocks (0-10 if I recall correctly), albeit with very limited information, but you know it works. When you buy the code to unlock, they responded to me within about 24hrs.

Yell out if you get stuck.

So while waiting for the laptop to charge and trial the cable/shareware software I changed the coils out (2.0t coils and ecs bling) and did the crc check on the intake

It ended up being a stuffed pipe connected to the intake manifold. Must have been getting progressively worse

                            All fixed!
Will still do the other things I was going to do anyway

                                This one

It's proximity to cylinder 2 probably explains why that plug looked a bit leaner than the others
