Future Mods: Possibly a FMIC, and maybe a clutch if the hordes are correct, but it has been around 6K since the K04 and the original clutch is still ok.

Hi Guys, I have been lurking around this forum for a while and have picked up some useful info, and in general you seem like a good bunch of guys so I thought it was time to come out of the closet.

Yes it goes ok, very different power characteristics to stage 1.

There has been a couple of problems with the k04, but in both cases Guy Harding sorted it quickly and I couldn't recommend him high enough to anyone thinking about tuning a pogo.

Pogo 55, you need to get to the QLD Dyno day on the 13th of December, so we can see what it does .....

There are a few of us planning on fitting a K04 (myself included) and we need to see some real data ..... so far there will be 3 Polo's at least all with mods so it would be good to see a K04 providing some inspiration

Yours seem to have the intake and exhaust mods as well, so that will be something we haven't seen on a K04 before. (on a dyno on this forum anyway)
Current: 2023 MY23 T-Roc R Lapiz Blue + Beats Audio + Black pack 2018 MY19 Golf R manual Lapiz Blue + DAP) 2014 Amarok TSI Red (tuned over 200kw + lots of extras) 2013 Up! manual Red 2017 Polo GTI manual Black Previous VWs and some others ...

Sorry, can't make this date - too close to xmas and too much going on. I am interested in seeing my car on a dyno, so I will be up for it in the future. Anyway, I would have thought that putting a car on a dyno in the middle of a QLD summer would not give the best results?

                        Hoyhoy.
Just wondering if you could tell us more on the different power characteristics.
I've had the version-1 & now have the version-2, which I like with the low end torque, so was just wandering what you thought of the KO4, please.
                        Hooroo.

I'll try - hope this makes sense......

                          Standard Pogo.
You feel the turbo kick in around 2k rpm till between 3/4ish k and then it feels sort of flat from then on. Obviously looking at the output from a dyno you can see it is still increasing in power, but the bum dyno kind of feels like I explained. You fell the initial surge then you seem to be waiting for the revs to climb to change gear.

Stage 1 Pogo - mine had only the ecu mapping nothing else.
Characteristics very like the standard one but with a large power increase when the turbo chimes in at 2k. Well worth the money. However, I do a lot of commuting in mine and I found it initially very funny that in heavy traffic when you would unwittingly climb above 2k it would take off like a scalded cat trying to mount the car in front. The power came in sharply even with a relatively light throttle. Eventually it annoyed me. As I said this was on a standard car with only the ecu remap, so I can't comment on how these characteristics change with other mods.

                          K04 Pogo.
Turbo comes in just above 2k, but it's relatively soft. It gradually increases till 3K, and from there it pulls very hard till the back of 5k. The boost also seems more controlled by the throttle position. If you don't fang it then it doesn't try to get too familiar with the car in front in heavy traffic. I think it is actually easier/nicer to drive than the standard turbo and it still has plenty of low end power.

                          Hope this helps.
