Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

stay tuned, the new beast (and owner) will be revealed soon

Mmmm, not sure which Dyno you were using as those mods are very unlikely to add up to 145kw atw.......

In Brisbane a car with a lightened flywheel and all those mods except for a BMC CDA (but with a SEAT intake & K&N ) made 131kw atw.......

And that was in the presence of other Polo's, so not trying to start a rumble, but your Dyno results are a bit suspect ...... Maybe there is more oxygen in the air down south .....

Guy himself said the APR exhaust was good for 2kw atw when he dynoed the red beast.

sharkie, he's talking the flywheel (110kw is standard GTI).

so 152kw (claimed) down to 122 atw for Rhys ~ 20% power loss

          175 * 80% = ~140kw atw

The BMC CDA would add a fair bit. So let's say for example around 5kw difference. That could all be put down to conditions, dyno and operator - and Melboune/Brisbane would have an effect too.

Sharkie, ring Peter Fitzgerald (ex Carrera Cup Champ) at Fitzgeralds Racing Services for verification as every mod was systematically dynoed there on his dyno.

I'll leave it to Guy to explain how those results are possible, and how a CDA works with the exhaust. ..and by the way, Guy never tested/dynoed his exhaust with a CDA, he was running a stock intake.

The KO3S will easily hit 230bhp with the right mods, do your research sharkie...

Who's the lucky bugger??? Nice work whoever it was.

Sharkie I made 144.4kw atw with my car(GIAC, custom exhaust and FMIC, TIP, pannel filter+intake pipe) So the only difference was the CDA. Different dyno's give different results. But I still say that the dyno on the QLD dyno day was wrong. The vid's on youtube somewhere - GIAC Polo dyno should find it.

Sadly know it wasn't me Neil did suggest I buy the car outright, but my car has way too many km for it to be worth it money wise (ticked 80,000km this week).

Congrats to who ever did buy, you'll have a damm nice car.

Gone to a good home - somebody scored well .

Sharkie, Neil's car had a dyno after each mod so he has all the data to back it up, same dyno each time -so its great results.

From what I gather, the piping size & intercooler end tank design seems to effect power output somewhat and the unknown pressure drop & efficiency seems to really throw the figures out.

What you should do is flow test your intercooler (and Jason's too) first off the car - compare the results & then do some back to back intake temp reading & timing pull readings an multiple pulls on the dyno. We know on our car that we pull zero timing after 6 consecutive pulls, and still run run intake temps within 15 - 25 degrees of ambient.

Yeah Floody played hard ball with me, he said unless I added a stage 3, my car was too slow for him, wouldn't waste his time

..the only hint I will give away is the Polo GTI is black

nah it wasn't Adam, but I just bought a Seat intake off him for immediate delivery. ..also looking for a BMC panel filter if anyone has got one.

Doing my best to get every little kw I can after the gear comes out bc driving it home that day will be so damn depressing
