hey Water Boy do you drive a Polo? I've been looking to see if any of the 9N's had manual windows and i'd swap over if it was going to save a good chunk of weight. If you went manual in a 9N I'd like to hear about it..
Yeah the vibrations won't bother me. The car won't be daily driven all that much anyways, maybe a couple days a week but I live less than 2kms from work so the car doesn't even get a chance to get warm.
I ended up modifying the stock dogbone mount to allow the engine to be rotated slightly more forward than what it is stock. This was to give some more clearance between the external wastegate and line from the brake reservoir to the clutch on the firewall. It also gave a little more clearance from parts of the firewall. It's rotated a minimal amount so won't effect the oil pickup line or any other crucial components for circulation.
Engine is now in for good, gearbox mounted, driveshafts bolted up, now moving onto clipping the wiring side of things back together and bolting bits and pieces back on.

Don't know what polo electric windows are like but Honda electrics (plastic) are lighter than the wind up (pressed steel) version.

I had a 03 2dr hatch polo s years ago with manual windows
thanks. yeah to be honest I don't know if they'd even be lighter and I wouldn't go to the effort if it was just a kg or two. I was astonished when I took the doors off my wreck and nearly blew another disc trying to carry them into the garage. I don't know if they're full of side intrusion bars or what but it was mental how heavy they were which got me thinking about whether its the electric gear that contributes to that. I have two spare doors that I can play with off the car so I might be able to figure something out.

Turbo to FMIC pipe work mocked up and ready to be welded. Plenty of room for the intake pipe to run underneath it while still allowing for access to the shifter cables etc rather than having to remove lots of stuff to gain access to it underneath. With the battery now in the boot, it’s made life so much easier for routing pipe work.
Nah, just alloy tubing because I want it powder coated like the rest of the bay and pipe work. It does look like stainless in the pics though as it’s the brighter finish tube
Got the other side of the cooler piping in the car today for a test fit after welding. Worked out spot on, very happy with how it fits. Lots of room for the intake to run under it and app still have access to the shifter cables. Now just have to mark where the outlets need to go for the DV etc once I’ve made the intake up tomorrow then it will all go to the powder coaters to match the rest of the engine bay
Intake made up today. Will get it welded up this week along with some barb fitting for the DV and n75 etc. Also going to make a heat shield up to partially enclosed the pod from the rest of the bay and a support bracket to take the weight of the pipe work and filter itself.
Good stuff. Its amazing how much room you have to play in with the battery out of the picture. All looks like a nice fit. Looking at it you probably haven't added that much extra induction piping even though it looks like it. I doubt a double pass FMIC would have much less of a pathway than the way you've done it. Boy its going to be loud through that K&N pod. Mine sounds like it has a BOV and whooshes even with a pissy little K03 so yours is going to make mums pull their kids away from the road side when you come past.
