Now had my 24month service done by Jimmymac. Can highly recommend him for doing a proper quality service for all Polo owners based in Brisbane.
Unless you have warranty work to be performed, Jimmy will do a better and friendlier service for a huge amount less than a VW dealership. Including Martini brakefluid !...
Many years of experience at VW/Audi and Porsche dealerships shows ....
PM Jimmy if you want him to work on your VW/Audi....Current: 2023 MY23 T-Roc R Lapiz Blue + Beats Audio + Black pack 2018 MY19 Golf R manual Lapiz Blue + DAP) 2014 Amarok TSI Red (tuned over 200kw + lots of extras) 2013 Up! manual Red 2017 Polo GTI manual Black Previous VWs and some others ...

Just a little more fuel for the fire on dealer service pricing...
Our R32 needed its initial 12 month service recently (note the other thread..) , its only around 8000k now. Had no real warranty issues, only a few rattles, none of which i would trust the dealership to resolve. This is a minor service, oil/filter change, reset computer, 1 - 2 hours absolute maximum.
Contacted Austral:
Initial quote from service dept - $480!
Contacted Highway:
$305
Contacted a euro independant service centre:
around $240
Contacted Austral again - thought i must have misheard them:
now its down to $400, but i qualify for a courtesy car for the day... and for no charge!!! (well i did buy the car from them..)
How rubbery are these prices? it only makes MrCustomer feel like he is being taken for a ride (or not).
I am not totally anti dealer - our other car is a a Subaru Forester GT, which i have no hesitation taking to City Subaru for all servicing. They are not particularly cheap, then they are not extortionate either, you basically get what you pay for - and they are very thorough. Thanks to them the GT is still purring along like a new car.
On my last service there i noticed some paint scuffing on the front quarter panel when i picked up the car - they detailed the whole car for me as a goodwill gesture! I cannot recommend them highly enough... and they always provide a courtesy car free, provided you book well in advance. Usually a newish Outback.
Diametrically opposed we have VW dealerships, they sure dont give me a warm fuzzy feeling.
See you later this morning Jimmy...
Cheers,

Just got a call from VW today saying "our records show your car hasnt been serviced for quite a while now" LOLL left me rather perplexed considering i have only owned it for 10 months.
What did everyone pay for their 15,000km service - she quoted me $406.01 which i thought was absolute BS cos i dont remember them telling me that price when i rang up the service dept when i researching for the car..
I didnt think that much was done at the 15000km service to warrant
$406.10. Money isnt the issue (if it was i wouldnt have bought a euro car) its just a big stretch from the initial figure i was given..

Shop around Lora...That price is utter crap on their behalf. When you consider parts and oil will not cost more than $100, labour for an oil and filter change and safety inspection/diagnostic should not cost over $300.

Thats exactly what i was thinking when i was on the phone with her - BS that service warrants a $406.01 price tag!Originally posted by Blitzen View PostShop around Lora...That price is utter crap on their behalf. I think Sydney costs are much higher than other states. I hear of people in QLD/VIC getting a dealer service for $200-$300 for 15000km. I rang about 6 dealers in Sydney for mine and all quoted $360-$390. The fact the A$ has been getting smashed lately against the Euro also means that prices will increase.NickZ

Well at the moment their pricing isnt desireable enough to warrant me taking my car there. Unless they miraculously drop their price i will be looking to take my car elsewhere - even if that means having it serviced out of the area.

Oh I totally agree - the prices are a complete rip off regardless of which state, but you won't get more than $50 off that price in NSW from what I have seen.Originally posted by MissVuks View PostFair enough NickZ but $100-120 price increase is beyond me..
The same thing happens at my work - we are all over Australia and someone in Brisbane who costs $150 an hour will be 20% more in Sydney.
If you want to save money but keep it serviced at a dealer, you can supply your own oil as that usually makes up about $80 - $90 for 4.5L and you can get 5L of Castrol Edge 0w-40 (VW Approved) for about $70 i think.NickZ
