Good news dude. Have you sourced a new MAF? Louis may have an old one laying around to off load.

    • this shows the two faults i got but i get the feeling the N249 is only showing a fault cos the vacuum line has come off the bov a few times but never had a problem with boost.

i know the maf is my real problem but im getting a little confused
do i buy a complete unit like this or do i just need the new sensor? cos the ones showing just the sensor are 4 times the price

      • If you need a sensor, as Sean said, I've got my old one available. I replaced it thinking it was the sensor failing but turned out to be a problem with the wiring harness instead.

If you want a brand new one, I'd get a genuine Bosch one. Heard the aftermarket/cheapy ones having issues and not performing as they should.

        • thanks mate but thinking of just buying a new one just so i dont have to worry about it last thing i want is to put on a second hand one and have it play up again down the track

          • No problem I can appreciate that.

Heres the one I got, seemed to be the cheapest genuine I could find locally.

            • ok i think this work shop is ****ing with me i typed in the code 6Q0-820-045.blb for the fault as you can see from the bottom of the photo and according to the code that is just for the heater he told me that it was the air flow meter luckily i checked before ordering that part

This is a Part number mate.

The MAF begins with 06A. He doesn't know how to interpret the print out is my guess, not pulling your strings. Louis' Ebay link is correct for the part number.

It actually says to the left of that code on the print out it's HVAC and recirc code below that. Nothing on the print out suggests MAF. A MAF issue doesn't surprise me, but what's pointing to the MAF?? What's not to say it also isn't a wiring issue like Louis had?

                  • Hey guy that tuned my car and did the scan who showed me that fault said it was the maf but he has made a mistake that isn't the problem might just be something with the boost might just change some vacuum lines might have a small leak somewhere

                    • If you can make it to chullora tonight (well before the GP starts) we can take some logs of your car.

                      • after seeing Josh's steup i got a little excited and bought a pod and some parts need to trim the hose to make it fit right but looks like it will sit nice but having it bolted straight onto the afm kinda sounds like a wrx down low haha also picked up a new turbosmart boost gauge old one only went to 20psi but looks to go over a little so a 30psi one is going in

on my way home gave my mates sv6 work ute a run and destroyed it lol so its still making power think once i install the TIP it will help a bit but sussing it out over the weekend it doesn't look like a fun job cant even see from up top how to unbolt it from the turbo so gonna have a good look hopefully next weekend if i have time

                        • Nice one! TIP gives it alot more induction noise as well. Iv also got a PD160 feeding the airbox as well.

                          • Well I've put on the pod sound alright down low have that little bit of noise I'll have to make a cover at some point but haven't had time to install the TIP yet hopefully next weekend and I installed a new boost gauge a turbosmart one my old saas one made some weird rattling noise might of been faulty

3rd gear pulls are hitting 21-22psi I changed a few vacuum lines and the car is feeling a lot better now and started to break traction in second today so I'm guessing I might have had a small leak somewhere but the car is feeling much better now

                            • Did you get much turbo noise or just induction (honda like) sounds? Incidentally, what kind of pod did you use?

                              • u can fit the top of the airbox back on with a little bit of die grinding. I also cut a hole in the bottom half to let a little bit of air in.
