I find the polo a/c to be cold but not be as cold as my renault climate a/c, but then again the only time that I have used polo a/c has been since I moved back to Canberra and temps have been mid to high 30's.
I also have window tint, so I would hate to see what it would be like without it.Nick

Glad to see this thread. Mine certainly feels less cool relative to our other car, a Honda Accord Euro -- and yes, I have tints, too.
So much so, that two days ago I felt compelled to apply Rob's excellent DIY on cleaning the pollen/dust filter. Flow increased a bit, but no colder
Oh well, 30k service due, so I'll ask the dealership to "fix" it

Mines got tint - aircon is OK but plenty of cars are better - Falcon for instance, the Corolla I had for a few days. Stronger blast of air (and quieter fan) and colder air.
GTI is OK - I'm in Brisbane and it has been a very mild summer. Hardly hot at all. When it has got to mid 30's the aircon struggles a bit.

You guys must remember the climate these cars are primarialy designed for... tend to require more heating than cooling... They don't re-engineer cars just for Australia at ~1,500 sales per year
I would expect a warm climate car to have better a/c (such as commadore/falcon) but I have found our GTI's HEATING system to be far superior

I also noticed that the Air compresser decided to turn itself off at the lights..... filling the cabin with this beautiful smell of ... you know that bad Aircon WARM smell... and i looked at the dials... all at the max cooling range and was about to scream and it turned itself on again (i never pressed the Accel peddle, or changed any settings)
My question is, why does the car seems to think its perfectly fine to switch off the compressor for a second...?
The car had only travelled for less than 5 minutes (was working when i set off) and there was a bit of spirited driving but that was nowhere near the lights....
I actually dont think its a problem with the car... i just think, that the car thought it would be a good idea to have a siesta for a couple of minutes while i sweat it out on this 40 degree day... Oh and it doesnt cool anything like my magna... which didnt drive anything like this polo
