It's my first turbo car and I'm starting to think from not only what you've said but from what I've read elsewhere, they need to be driven differently than a NA engine.
I done meant to sound rude, but why have a turbo'ed car and not let it come onto boost?? In all seriousness, if I was looking for better fuel consumption, I would have gone for a Polo 1.6L or 1.9L TDI. I love my little pocket rocket, and love to get the turbo spooled up and playing with the rest of the engine, not just hanging off the exhaust and picking its nose...

I bought a GTI because I like to have fun with my car. But that doesn't mean I've got to bounce it of the limiter every time.

I'm just experimenting, trying to find the sweetspot for gear changes to get the best efficiency for the times when I do just kick back and cruise.

      • I installed the dash cubby, gloss B-pillars and changed the aerial. All parts from DubAddiction.

I also gave it a first wash! Pics below:

good work! me too. i HATE the crap dealerships put on your car. if you ask me, they need to pay us if they want to put their advertising on OUR cars. i feel especially bad for those who have dealership stickers on the actual car body, usually at the back. i can't see how that should be allowed. i also take off VW stickers and service reminder stickers off all windows. i'm getting my windows tinted soon and i'll be telling tint-a-car not to put their sticker on my window. my car is not an advertising billboard.

              • I haven't taken off the VW stickers on the back windows yet. Will have to do that before I get it tinted.

Though I did scrub the dealership name off my rear number-plate cover so its now plain black

                • Word.
Thats crud that they stick it to paintwork! I'd ask them to take it off themselves and see how they go about it without damaging duco
especially if its been out in the yard.

                  Giallorosso: Thats some good thinkin!
cos i did like the match of the gloss black and gloss of the front grille.

                        Yeah, they are printed on.

I used Gumption and a sponge to scrub them off. Gumption cleans anything.

                        • bought the VW polo sunshade and it look Ghey!!! it doesn't fit properly in the car plus its a cutboard, not a foil sheet

also when i got it, it wasn't shrink wrap (as shown in the picture on the VW website)

so jst a note of warning: DO NOT buy them! better of buying them from repco or supercheap i guess...

Why I bought it?? I have no idea... now im asking for a refund...its CRAP!

I got a the fragrance of "NEW CAR SMELL" and the scent is soooo good, just like a new car smell (even though my car is only 1.5months old) superbargain for $10

can i hazard a guess? you love your car (as do all on this forum, no matter what model pog) and you have put so much love and care into maintaining your car, that sometimes you fold and once again misplace trust in what dealers have to offer in terms of gear to care for your car, but when they 'deliver' ther product, its not what you expected........

i wont presume to have car care experience, but for me its what the sh%7 comes delivered with, plus the 15k and 30k services, and thats that- up to ME to nurture my baby...

i was surprised when they cleaned and washed my car after my service...
i paid $1600 for my last disco2 service and the rotten mother%^#kers didnt even wash the side mirrors, 'due to current water restrictions'....

[once again another useless bullerscott post...]

                            • Gave it the royal Meguires treatment with some polish and vinyl+rubber protectant on the trim. looked amazing!

Although, i did notice patches on the car that were extremely rough. You cant see the residue but it definitely feels more sandy, and the drivers wheel has the same thing.

Any ideas? I thought it may be overspray, or something they left on the car in transit/showroom. Not happy!
will show to the dealer along with my driver side mirror unit that is nearly falling off!!!

yeah i bought the polo sunshade as well. its an absolute POS. i bought it thinking that it would be an exact fit for the polo. but its way too small. plus, its made from a stiff cardboard with hard plastic edges. no good for your dash in my book.
