Where are you guys sourcing the core from? I see Dark side development has em for £225. Anywhere else worth a look?

The one from Darkside is what suits the above install which is what most of us ended up getting. There are a few other ones out there (apart from the obvious ones) but this one seemed to be the best bang for buck

When Redliner came over to collect something, he arrived during my install. He commented on how light the Seat core was by comparison.

If you are planning a bigger turbo, I'd seriously consider the thicker core of the THS. Otherwise, I have found the Seat core to be much better in the heat and have noticed minor improvements over the Forge core.

If anyone else goes down this path I have a few left over bits you can have cheap (not much use to me).

I saw the conflict with the tow point, not having ever needed a car towed, I didn't think much of it.

Any recommendations for a tow strap? Seems to be quite a few options out there, I'm guessing it will need a pretty large bolt, anyone know the specs or point me to a bolt / strap product please? Not sure I'll leave it connected, prob just in case...

At the last dyno day here we had to fit up the tow point for them to strap the car down. Food for thought.

noone, when you say the SEAT core was lighter, is this in comparison to the forge?

To the THS. I believe the Seat core is Aluminium, maybe the THS is not? could be the thickness of the end tanks, cant really speculate...

The end tanks on the Seat and the THS are exactly the same.
THS replaces the Seat core with a bar and plate core that goes to the full width of the end tanks.
The THS intercooler is quite heavy.

Does anyone know if the ECS tow hitch is strong enough for actual towing? It says "For cosmetic use only" when you drill down on them.
Maybe I should just get the Hook Rod and get a custom hitch made rather than use the alloy one of the complete hitch.

As for why I care, you need to be able to be towed to compete in CAMS timed speed events.

The difference wouldn't seem to add enough material to make much difference to the weight if the thickness of the bars/plates are the same

The width is larger for the THS. Quote from THS:

THS Seat Ibiza replacement uprated intercooler.

These intercoolers are produced so they fit the same as the Seat Sport intercooler but the cores have been enlarged to take advantage of the entire end tank size. The cores are built using the same core designs as our TFSI intercooler offering enhanced performance, lower pressure drops and increased cooling.

                          End quote.

When I looked at Ben's Seat Cooler the core was much thinner than the THS.

Yeah, I read the blurb on their web page before I posted....

I was saying that from the pictures that I've seen, it didn't look like there would be that much extra material from the widening of the core. I guess it would be more apparent if there was a side by side shot of the 2 intercoolers but I haven't been able to find one.
