Looks easy with the engine out of the car, you try doing it without taking the engine out, there is not much room for your hands and/or tools
LOL. True
Trust me, i'm not turned off.
They are hassles but not insurmountable.
There's hassles with any install.
Plus I'm sort of treating this kit as a starting point.
I know that I will probably put in stronger rods and upgrade from there eventually.
Now back to the loose turbo bolts.
Has anyone tried either of the two suggestions in the first post. Don't want our turbos' falling off.
When I had this issue (6 months ago, around 40K kms), it sounded odd when started.
I took it to my local mechanic and told him what I thought it was.
One bolt was gone, 1 hanging and 1 loose. He said he had to feel for them as he couldn't really see. I think the items you are looking at are probably good solutions, but I don't know how practical they are going to be to fit as its a difficult space to work in.
Good luck to you mate, you've certainly jumped into the deep end with your Polo, did you buy one with some work already done? Do you know if they were on here (username)?
Yep, I sort of have jumped in the deep end.
I like the cars. Like the fact its got a reasonably tough motor in a light body.
Plus its well built and doesn't look too much like your typical revheads car.
I found the car on this forum and bought it from Autoslick, nice guy, at a good price so have some money left
over to build a tough Polo. (hopefully).
It would be nice to give some of the Polos' bigger brothers (Golf R's) a run for their money. (dreaming)
I think the permatex exhaust sealant may work well for anyone.
At ten bucks it's a cheap solution.
The linked forum seems to suggest its work for everyone who has tried it, thats why I was
wondering if anybody here has tried it.
The stage 8 locking fasteners would definately work but costs more plus I would have to source the correct size and tensile studs.
And by the way you're not dreaming about giving the R's a run for their money. The only R that can get past me on the track is Tarmacs 250+kw atw monster and that's only on the straights With you turbo upgrade there won't be much that will be a challenge.

Did these work?
Having this problem with my S3, 3rd time the bolts have come loose in the last couple months. and the car is far from driven hard.
I used new bolts and gasket, did them up as tight as I could then used the metal compound I hopefully listed earlier. No issue since, if I could easily see back there I take a photo.
Been involved with this for moons, having seen another very loose spent some more time on more possible solutions. For a long time I have been wondering what my mentor used on the UR Quattros back in the day, to the point I ended up ringing him back on the UK and asked what the name of the cam lock washer we used. Nord washers. They are pretty awesome and work like nothing else out there. I have ordered a box of M10 camlocks and will be testing them on a Polo in the near future. Till then it has 12.9 strength bolts and duralok nut. Will def keep you posted on this, very keen and always have been for a better solution.

Jimmy, I have a lot of confidence in what I have done, it held together for heaps of track days. (track records included)(plus I don't back off for the whole day)
It held for more than 1/2 doz. track days even before linishing the surfaces which were well out of shape, (on the manifold where it mounts to the turbo the surface looked like a soup bowl) which I'm thinking is the difference between some blowing easier than others.

I like that approach Eddy. Had been thinking about that and curious as to getting such a thing off. I guess the bracket doesn't have to be too thick due to the direction of the forces. I like.
