theres 2 screws on the top. and on the engine side there is 2 slide in clips. after removing screws the airbox lid should slide towards the out side of the car.you may need to loosen the tip clamp to give yourself more room. the k and n like the oem filter have a rubber seal around the outside tht should snuggly into the lip on the inside of the airbox. when installed be carfull when putting the airbox lid back on to fit it correctly, you shouldnt be able to see any of the k and n filter rubber seal from the out side." Easily the best value mod for the GTi in my eyes closely followed by the APR R1 which is quite brilliant in itself." I wait I resolution derive pleasure this " latest spammer post

Nah man there is nothing wrong with using one hey. Infact after doing all the intake mods I'd say that this would be the best mod to do performance wise & money wise. It can't be beat. It really opens up the otherwise choking point of the paper filter and really opens up the air intake. Creates a very noticeable effect.
The only way it may affect the MAF sensor is if when you oil it after cleaning it, you put too much oil on it but do it according to the instructions and you should have no problems.APR V2 Tuned, APR Dogbone mount, APR R1 DV, K&N Panel Filter, SEAT Intake, Forge TIP & FSB, Bilstein & H&R, Whiteline RSB, Full Milltek 2.5" exhaust

Had a BMC panel filter installed since 2500k's and had the car APR tuned around the same time and have never had a problem. Car's now gone 26,000k's and no problems. In fact, the car seems to run better then stock setup. Fuel consumption has also dropped too and now averaging 7.0-7.6l/100km.
