I have had a few k&n filters over the years both panel and pod and never had this problem of the oil affecting the MAF, however dealers will use any crappy excuse to void your warranty. For this reason I will be getting a non oiled filter. My 2 cents

        Hi guys,
sorry to dig up an old thread but does anyone have a part number for the K&N filters and which is the better to go with panel or pod?

          GTI panel filter is KN33-2830

I will be going with a pod in the New Year (non-oiled of course). I'll let everyone else will argue which is better.

I have a BMC filter. I think the SEAT intake and BMC filter go well well.

Im sure the BMC and the K&N will have similar benefits..

                In saying that....

I had a XR6 Turbo and it made at one point 276rwkw. I added the K&N Panel filter and it made 277rwkw so it didnt really make an earth shattering difference... I reckon on our baby motors it will add even less.

Its weird, stuff all difference on a dyno but we all swear it makes a difference.

Seat of the Pants dyno never lies...

I'd rather spend my $120 elsewhere.

ive been known to burn toast and destroy bowls of cereal..thanks for the confidence though..will get it in first thing in the morning - cant wait to see if there is any noticeable difference in power delivery (APR V2 Chip..no other mods as yet) - my guess until the computer remaps i will have a more noticeable difference then it will reduce?

I think you won't notice any significant change. It's a matter of getting all the 'small' bits in place to help the engine breathe at the top end (once you've chipped it): SEAT intake, BMC or K&N Filter, adjustable billet diverter valve, Forge or similar Turbo Inlet Pipe (TIP) ... and let's not forget the FMIC.

SEAT intakes seem to be as rare as hens teeth these days
