Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

I found one of the threads on KW Abe Weitec: http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthrea...t-do-you-think

Old I know, things may have changed.

Where did everyone get there Bilstein's? I'm going to be needing new shocks soon, and I am happy with my Weitec springs, so I was just curious.

There's a few of us running the Bilstein/H&R combo, me inclusive. You'd be stretching it to get it all installed and new control arm bushes in for under $1500 (I'd bet zero chance, parts will cost close to that). I'm on the south side of Brisbane, holland park area, I'd be happy to take you a drive in mine. At the moment the car is stock apart from said suspension, near identical milage, so will be comparing apples and apples.

From what I've read, H&R seem to provide 2 sets of lowered springs, a 25mm lowering and 40mm lowering, mine seem to be of the later. (but someone may be able to confirm or elaborate, as the struts seem to have impact on height to some extent so this could be a little misleading)

I got my bilsteins through Dave GTI (i think thats his forum name), got the springs through orange tuning in the UK.

Been scanning online... The Bilstein/H&R combo looks a bit exy for springs/shocks... I have been looking at coil overs and was just wondering if anyone has dealt with DPM Performance, and whether they deliver to Australia? I might give them a call tonight...

Yeah, I got mine from him, so have a few others. Was a smooth transaction. Best price that I found.

Got my KW's from DPM too, pleasure to deal with but had to wait ~4weeks while kw pulled their finger out and actually made the things!! Make sure you get the GTI specific coils as they have the FSB mounting lug in a different position to avoid contact

Yeah, just spoke to them on the phone... They seem pretty easy to deal with. £125 for postage is pretty good too. I'm not going for KW's or anything too flash, and these days I don't have to deal with horrendous Queensland roads (compared to Qld, the ACT's roads are amazing!!), so I'm just going with a set of FK's.
I need new shocks, but after looking at the price of Bilstein's (what I was originally looking at), then comparing them to coil overs, I went with getting coil overs...
