    Haha, nice
I've seen the Ed30 wheels, they do look nice with the flat bottom ..and I did want one, until I saw the Mk6 fits.
I'm pretty set on the Mk6 wheel, they obviously fit as it's what comes standard on the Vivo's in SA.
Did Polo's ever come out with a MFSW? Just wondering if the module to handle the inputs is even there...

    Vivo GT --

I think this steering wheel would look fantastic in the pog, with the matching light switch, heater knobs and ANS-420.

I'm trying to find a cheap center console as well to paint up piano black to see if I like it.

9N3's systems (&CAN) not suitable for a MFSW I'm afraid Sam. You will spend thousands in adding and upgrading modules to get it to work and only then if you can find someone to help....

Far better this eBay Australia: Buy new & used fashion, electronics & home d

Flat bottom MK6 wheel without MF.

I have the tools to install if you need help ....

Yeah I thought as much, oh well makes it that much easier I guess.
Bloody legend! Pretty sure I can find the GTI insert seperately..
Is there any difference in the harnesses between the MF and non-MF? Reason I ask is if I had access to a MF would I be able to install it just without the extra functionality?
Cheers mate, a six pack should cover it yeah?
Thanks again for the help guys, this is something I've wanted to do for ages!

Yes there is a difference, the MFSW has to have all the connections to not only control the buttons on the wheel but also the "center" sensor and contact switch that the wheel runs on. Plus the mk6 GTI wheel has its own little "brain" in it too so as an owner of a vehicle with this wheel, good luck is what i say

Not to be a troll but even a non MFSW might struggle to work due to the electronic system in the 9N polo but if you get it working, awesome work. If not, don't be too disappointed because it is a long shot from what I learned speaking to a guy in Sweden, this specific wheel is programmed to work with highline and specifically white instrument clusters but if you know your way around a soldering iron and a computer, you could get it working if this is the case.

Eek, so much information I have to try and address it all neatly.. bear with me.

From what I've seen, a lot of guys fitting the Mk6 wheel in earlier models don't worry about connecting the airbag.
I found this guy who seems to have fitted it up to a 6N with working airbag (my biggest concern)

UK-POLOS.NET • View topic - neilGTI's Polo GTI - Chrome light switch fitted

6-7 posts down he vaguely describes the process.

If I'm not worrying about fitting a MF version, it looks like there's two main things to worry about:
            1. Whether the 9N3 slip ring is compatible with the new wheel.
            2. When fitting a Mk6 wheel to a Mk5, it seems you need to replace the cruise control stalk. I'm not sure why this is, still researching.

Regards the slip ring, I found this information relating to Mk6 to Mk5 in a Golf --

If you have a really early MK5 the slip ring might not be the correct one to do this mod, I’m sorry to say i have no info on this other than you will need to upgrade your slip ring behind the steering wheel to 1K0 959 653 C this is still totally current up to MK6 golf in 2011.

Also if you have an early MK5 these had a dual deployment airbag system on them and two connectors on the back of the air bag, I BELIEVE THIS IS ONLY FOR AMERICAN CARS AS LOOKING THROUGH WIRING DIAGRAMS IT DOESN'T APPEAR ON EUROPE SPEC'D CARS we will be using a new MK6 steering wheel one with one connector on it, as both units use the 1K0 959 653 C slip ring it should work ok, I’ve researched this quite a bit on ETKA and ELSAWIN and it does not appear that after 2005 you have dual deployment but you will only know for sure by popping off the bag and looking for either 1 or 2 connectors.

How I see it, there's two options.
            1. Keep the current slip ring and make a hybrid 9N3>Mk6 loom (Not my first preference as how do you really know you've wired the airbag up correctly? )
            2. Retro-fit the Mk5/6 Golf slip-ring to the Polo. Is this possible?

If anyone has access to part numbers it would be immensely helpful to know the part number of the 9N3 Polo slipring.

There has been a few members on here who have fitted MK5 GTI wheels with no issues. Straight swap I believe.

What I want to know is if the MK5 GTI swheel has the same airbag as the Polo GTI?

Mk5 wheel is pretty easy and if my attempts fail I'll go with that.
You can use the Polo airbag with the Mk5 wheel. It's physically the same, apart from being a little shallower at the back. Apparently you can't notice it. Using the Polo airbag takes all the complicated parts away, no wiring.

I'm currently surfing ETKA to find the slip ring part number for the 9N3. From first glances it looks like it will physically transfer over, I'm just trying to collect all the modules that need to interact with each other. Still trying to find info on if I'll have any probs with the cruise control playing nicely.

Ok after looking around on ETKA and the interwebs, it looks like the Golf slip ring connector is a different orrientation to the Polo. Makes things hard...

I just found this guide to modify the looms, creating a hybrid between the two. Looks like a better solution --

I'm going to order the scirocco wheel and a Polo loom and see what happens..
