  • So I got my car back on Sat morning To start with I could feel a lot of weight in the rear and thought it very strange, at my next stop I checked the boot and the'd put the old shocks and springs in the boot. Once I got home and removed the old ones from the boot, the car is brilliant. I can feel a bit of stiffness but not so much that the ride is harsh.

I walked past it and thought hey wow that is pretty low, think it's been dropped bout 3-4cm. So far pretty happy with it Was trying to plan a run up and down Macq Pass but have missed out. 5 days and I'm off to Thailand for 10 days, so will love getting back in the car when I return

    • Good to hear you're happy with it... back to the track then eh?

      • It's actually weird driving a car that absorbs the bumps, especially just regular rises and dips in a smooth road.

As for the track, we'll see. Wouldn't mind doing some motorkhana's.

        • Got any pics of the ride height?

you mean the car follows the undulations of the road or it just rides flat (driver's vertical level stays put) while the wheels go up and down over the undulations?

              • i think he meant that the bumps, regular rises/dips on the road are barely felt, or negligible.

                • Has anyone here used spring packers to increase the spring rate without lowering the car. I'm aware that it would make the car ride HIGHER than stock when loaded but I'm trying to not alter the look. Obviously, it would be best to combine this with firmer dampers too, especially if they were adjustable so that the damping could be matched to the amount of packing.

What's the issue you're trying to overcome? There may be other means, e.g sways might achieve the desired result.

                    • Just looking for some more suspension control when hustling along winding roads. Sway bars help reduce roll but I'd rather do more than just that (eg reduce the floaty feeling at speed).

First step is probably to just get dampers with more low speed rebound damping and keeping the springs stock, I'm guessing - maybe some Koni double adjustables or similar.

Changing the spring rate while leaving the damping as stock is not a particularly smart move IME. I can't understand the suspension tuners that have done the H&R cup mod with the stock dampers unless they have warned the owners of the consequences.
