OK I got no idea right now. A lot of guys seem just be happy with springs and shocks. I'm pretty worried about ride quality, but anythings gotta be better then my stuffed shocks.

I'm OK with the idea of Weitec's from the Uk for a bit under AUS$1000, inc insured freight. But haven't really been able to find out what the ride quality would be like, not many people in Aus have them. My money tin has almost $800 so happy to spend $1K-$1200.

I can't remember the user name, but someone here has AP's I'm pretty sure. I'm happy buying from Deamon-Tweeks, I did some research and I think they've been in business long enough not to get stuffed around.

Well if you think about them as cheap KW, then it's a bargain

I have the AP's, but really don't know what to tell you... My ride is firm. I also have swaybars, brace and whiteline bushes, so a little hard to say what does what.

If they are both in your price range, I'd be going Wietecs...

Send a PM my way if your going to order a set of Weitec Hicon Gt from Demon because for the last 2 weeks i've been eyeing them for a bit. Would be good to get a few in and hopefully save a bit to avoid the stupid tax.

If anyone is keen on Weitec GT's from demon-tweeks we might currently have 3 lots and I'm waiting to hear from them on a price. If anyone else wants a set, please PM me.

So from what I can tell the Weitec's are going to lower your GTi almost as much as the AP's but have superior handling/ride. I love the Dubdrop on Noone's car but am prepared to pay the extra for the Weitec's if better ride and still almost as low. Has anyone got a pic or link to a GTi with the Weitec's on? Cheers.

Wietecs don't go as low as the APs

most place say Wietecs are 10-45mm drop

                        APs are easily 30-70mm drop

From what I've read, most of the brands seem to have a really good drop on the front.

The rear is limited by the height of the spring, when I originally installed my coilovers the rear springs were sitting in the orignal spring bed. This was lower than I'm riding now but the spring moved around which was noisy.

With the rear spring seat in, but the height adjuster ring taken out there is a good drop, but can't be made to go lower easily. This height at the rear seems to be the limitation for AP's, Weitec, etc.

With the front being low, the wheel arch lining needs to be unscrewed in 1 location and the plastic moulding pushed up past the clip to give a little more space to move.

If someone in Sydney wants a demonstation, I'm more than happy to show you want the AP's are like.

where and what brand can i get like a front strut for the polo gti. As far as i know whiteline doesnt have it.
i also want harder springs that are not lowered... can i find something like that? Also, wud harder non lowering springs suit the stock VWpolo shocks or do i need to go for a full coilover setup.

my aim for the rest of year is to replace gearbox and then just spent money on handlin. the car just feels really soft.

                              Hi mate.

Forge make a front strut brace. There are some other brands from Orange Tuning.

I'm not sure about stiffening the suspension without lowering, I think that if you went with coilovers, you could leave your car at stock height, but why?

Springs alone will not stop the suspension being soft, you will need to attack both aspects of the movement to get the best results.

You may find that just adding a rear sway gives you less roll and a more compliant ride.

I get the feeling that i'm not gonna be happy with the drop from the Weitecs. Bah, decisions.
