Sorry for hijacking thread. Ive fitted the 35mm H&R springs but kept standard shocks. When going over bumps i can hear the shock moving like a oil,air escaping kind of sound :s Anybody know how i can test them to see if there gone?

Sounds like normal shock noise to me

Yep, stand next to a speed bump and listen to the cars as they go over, they'll all do it.

                  Hello all,

I had some H&R springs fitted on Friday and thought I would post up some pics! I will take better ones when I have some more time and better light!

I'm deciding between Bilstein/H&R and Koni FSD/Eibach suspension kit. Does anyone know if the part numbers for Koni FSD/Eibach front and rear? Also, any distributors within Australia?

                    Cheers

From what I've read, the FSD's aren't suitable for the GTI (not sure if you're in a GTI though). You'd want the yellows in Koni. My bilsteins go in tomorrow, race track this weekend.

The Modeo ones are not really any better. I have a set of the OEM and Mondeo ones at home, unused (not on the vehicle) if anyone wants them.
Hi Noone, i know that you change from OEM to Mondeo droplink before. What droplink are you using now? did it fix the knocking? I'm still on H&R/Stock Shocks, and it knocks as i go right out of my drive way. Hope to get some bilstein shocks soon tho....

                          Hi Kev,

I'm running coilovers with a similar mounting point to stock, so no issues with mine. I did try the Modeo ones, but they are not really any better.

There was a shorter alternative that would suit short springs, Hot Tuning do some, here is a link to some... ebay droplinks

The UK guys are using VMaxx, have not come across them here...

Its all a bit of trial and error unfortunately, I've got a set of the Mondeo ones lying around if you want to try, but not much shorter.

                            Thanks Noone,
i found the vmaxx one on the UK sites, but the shipping was over 100P. i haven't contacted Hot Tuning about shipping yet, i guess i will wait till after i get the bilstein shocks.
                            Cheers,

since having the bilsteins put in and going back to the standard links, I don't get the knocking any more. Not sure why this has stopped but I'm happy that it has.

Oh, and the bilstein/H&R combo at queensland raceway (sprint circuit) is at least 2.1secs a lap quick than H&R's with stock struts. Unfortunately I only got one full session on the sprint track as the final session I overheated and subsequently ruined a tyre as the inner belt let go and tread blocks moved, the tyre is a bit oval shaped and tread block U shaped... But regardless, it was happy lapping 2 secs quicker when driven just within the limit and a lot more fun.
