Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

did a dealer tell you to use silicone spray?

I work at a suzuki dealership in sales, the pre delivery department uses silicone spray all the time and it makes a god aweful mess.

I always have to go over each car to remove silicone spray. Pain in the butt because once the car moves, the stuff just sprays everywhere.

I would suggest you use something which is more cream based. Like plastic and rubber conditioner.

Does anyone know where new wiper blades can be purchased?

My driver side one is rooted. Not happy since it never rains and I never use the wiper fluid to clean the window. I reckon its gone up and down about 200 times max in a year of ownership!!

This may help - I asked the question a while ago - I've never actually checked Autopro to check, but they might be a good bet.

The wipers are known as 'Aerotwin' wipers (they used to be exclusive to Bosch, but I'd assume there's aftermarket ones by now).

                        MAKE - POLO GTI
                        KMS - 19000
                        MODS - NONE
                        CAR USAGE - Daily ride

                        1. PROBLEM - Turbo oil pipe(or something in the line of those)
DESCRIPTION - A leak of oil was evident in the first service. Problem was solved.

                        2. PROBLEM - Gearbox
DESCRIPTION - Crunches when put into reverse (occasionally). Crunches when changing from 1st to 2nd at high rpm.

                        3. PROBLEM - Air Con system
DESCRIPTION - When the system is on, it makes an annoying whinning sound. It gets louder when the rev goes higher, until the engine's sound(of music) surpass those of the air con's.

                        4. PROBLEM - Brake Pedal contact switch
DESCRIPTION - Makes an annoying clicking sound every time the pedal is depressed. Dealer said it was normal, BUT!, supposingly newer one doesn't have that sound. will have to investigate in the new Demo cars dealer have!

                        5. PROBLEM - Circuit breaker? Fuse? Some other switch
DESCRIPTION - Random clicking sound coming from inside the dash. No associated with the brake clicking. Once or twice when the clicking occurs, the headlight's light dimmed a little.

Im actually having 2nd thoughts on what is causing this noise. Im thinking maybe it is related to the steering as when I take a turn at speed I can feel a vibration or some unordinary feeling thru the steering.

Also when at low speeds today I turned around in a cul-de-sac and heard the same noise but alot fainter.

Hmmm any suggestions in regards to the steering components?
