Don't take any guff from your insurer, they have to work with the RTA regardless. If you have her licence number, that should be sufficient.

Don't take that crap Josh. You pay for insurance so that they deal with the other party if you wind up in a situation like this. When you speak to them next, without being abusive be very stern and and don't back down. Tell them that it's their job and you won't accept it any other way.

It's amazing what people will do when they get a nice voicemail from the Police

I'm not sure if I'm right, or to what extent it applies, but don't have have to exchange details at the scene of an accident? It sounds like she didn't do that and hence the cops might be interested.sigpicOriginally posted by KaiAnd then dont forget the most important mod for gays.

doesnt look like she has insurance! Wont return phone calls from anyone
Yeh I'll be calling the insurance company on Monday and demanding to know why I have to be pinged with the whopping excess, and proceed to tell them that I wont insure with them again if they keep up the act. Obviously I'll do this politely!
I called the police to file a report, the lady copper told me to piss off, in a round about sort of way
We did exchange licences at the accident, I just failed to realise that her address would be of such VAST ($1900) importance!VW: it aint just a car, its a way of life

Hi,
First, bummer about the accident and the insurance run around, hope it gets sorted easily.
I thought the cops had to be notified if the damage was over a certain amount. Maybe that's old fashioned thinking.
A few years ago my mum had a slight parking mishap where she scraped the corner of her very beat up 180B against a 4WD. She didn't think there was damage to the other car so she didn't leave a note. But someone witnessed it and took down her rego and reported it to the police or 4WD owner. It wasn't long before my mum had a visit from the police - nothing serious, just to exchange details etc for insurance (apparently the 4WD claimed there was some damage).
And all this over a very minor carpark scrape, so I'd like to think they'd be of some assistance in your case.Maybe try again in person or a different station??
All the best with it.'76 Mk1 Golf - Gone!
