You don’t have to have a custom tune.. it cools down the intake temps, colder air, more oxygen more power, add meth to the mix to boost octane levels, lotsa guys run water/meth injection here in SA
You only need to change the map if you want to tinker with the timing to make more power, but that’s only recommended with a lot of intake mods, eg, fmic, tip, intake and water meth.. but you run advance timing map if u not satisfied with the power u making..

LOL OUCH! Most kits come with a low level sensor so you'd switch it off once you see that anyway.

Worst thing that most companies would want to avoid is idiots going around running 30psi and not checking their tanks before they have a drive...

I've run a mid 13 without the methanol and street tyres. I made 160kw at the front wheels. He has the same mods as me except for the K03s vs the K04.

If you have a read up on the methanol kit, you'll see that there's quite a lot of power to be made. No doubt he'd be running flat 13s.

funny i posted a link to water/meth kits for the 1.8t about a week ago. plautos was the only one who posted a comment i think. some of those kits i looked at were quite impressive. i had no idea it gave that much power but.

Oh ok. I've run them on my cars in the past and they're a good way of getting some good power. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea though

It's also that they might not give you a whole LOT of power straight off the bat, but they allow you to run higher boost etc

              with K03s it's impossible to get 202Kw.
even with methanol injection and watermist...

                  insane polo

[I]'Although Junaid’s GTi has yet to be tested in an official drag event, it has handed out its fair share of ass whippings. With everything from RunX RSi’s to modified M3’s, this understated GTi has run them all – and beat them all. With a quarter mile time estimated to be a 13 flat – it puts this little boosted GTi in a very elite class

i find it very hard to believe , i squeezed everything at the wrx with standard turbo and injectors , everything else upgraded and i only managed 169kw at all fours.

if did produce those numbers surely it wouldn't last too much on the road?

With water injection, 103 Octane and 1.5bar sustained boost 200kw atw is quite possible.

                        BUT .....

without any internal work done to that engine it wont last long ....

                        AND ....

13s flat is not possible with the suspension mods and wheels he has got. It is estimated ...... LOL

13s in a FWD road car is not easy and without very specific suspension work etc etc etc highly unlikely ....... I know, I've been there in a FWD that made more power and weighed much less .....

For a point of reference, the APR golf with 223 kw atfw pulled a 13.8s quarter in the motor shootout.

The Evolve polo did 14.4 from memory with LSD, coilovers, FMIC, chip, full exhaust.

Buy the mag. It's a good read.

P.S. some of those numbers might be a bit off, I'm only going off memory
