Plus as fun as the Devil is, it can't compare to a day on the slopes in whistler.
Also, everyone should get a Stage 2 Tiguan for their future family logistics

We had a Corrado when our first baby arrived, 3 doors isn't such a big deal. Just don't take all that crap you read about in the baby magazines everywhere with you. It's really good job that Hummer don't make push chairs! Can you imagine what that would turn the world into.....
When people ask what you want them, to buy you for the baby, just get cash. It'll be more use in the future than onsies and bibs.
In fact, a mate of mine used to go to London from Manchester with his wife and 3 kids in a Pug 206. So an SUV is not an essential item.
Rant mode off
As brilliant a car as a Pog GTI is, sometimes the need for a newish reliable 5 door hatch for a growing family just outweighs the pleasure of owing it.
If I could find a way of keeping the Rok, the GTI, my bike and a newish 5door hatch, I'd never sell ..... Just too expensive and silly really
GLWS Ant, in a few months time when you want to see (and feel) what a 250kw RWD VW with space for the family and a few dogs is like let me know ....Last edited by Sharkie; 15-10-2013, 05:46 PM.Current: 2023 MY23 T-Roc R Lapiz Blue + Beats Audio + Black pack 2018 MY19 Golf R manual Lapiz Blue + DAP) 2018 MY18 Golf 110TSI (150TSI) Trendline manual White2014 Amarok TSI Red (tuned over 200kw + lots of extras) 2013 Up! manual Red 2017 Polo GTI manual Black Previous VWs and some others ...

Hi all,
ok so looks like the Fiance and I have agreed on a Jeep Wrangler for the family wagonSo this means if the Devil doesn't go to a good home very soon it will be traded.
She now has new oil, plugs and battery and 12 months rego
And price dropped to only $13,000 ONO. So much car for a very reasonable price I think you would agree
Cheers,
Ant.

Same here Ant, I'm afraid ....
Apart from apparently quite shocking reliability (lady at work bought a new Grand Cherokee in Oct 13 and its been back to dealer 3 times for warranty repairs .... once on the back of a flatbed truck .....), Jeeps are just not particularly nice to drive plus expensive to run ...... better off in a number of other SUVs, Mazda CX5 and VW Tiguan to name the top 2 of many contenders .....
GLWS, but even more good luck with that impending purchase .....Current: 2023 MY23 T-Roc R Lapiz Blue + Beats Audio + Black pack 2018 MY19 Golf R manual Lapiz Blue + DAP) 2018 MY18 Golf 110TSI (150TSI) Trendline manual White2014 Amarok TSI Red (tuned over 200kw + lots of extras) 2013 Up! manual Red 2017 Polo GTI manual Black Previous VWs and some others ...

I would say an Octavia vRS would be a good option.
Huge boot space and you get the GTI running gear

Thanks guys, I appreciate the support as always
I have been eyeing off the JK Wrangler since it came to OZ for years now and have been lurking on various forums sussing them out that whole time. And you are correct in everything that has been raised lol!
If Nat liked another Jeep i would say no as all the new models are having various issues just like the JK when it hit our shores. But luckily the JK has had nearly all its bugs sorted now. Such as thirsty old V6 now replaced with the Pentastar. The CRD now has a DPF and silicone turbo pipes. Better matched diff gearing. There's still overheating issues in sand with the auto CRD but I want the manual. The suspension has been sorted and the spring rates revised for a nicer ride now. Yes I've test driven 3 different releases over the years and they were awfulAnd the new interior is actually quite nice for what is a real out of the box offroader... and that's my final point actually. We intend on touring, camping and exploring over the next few years and the Jeep is actually the best bang for buck when you start looking at options that put many other 4wds to shame off road. Also looking at the Defenders actually but the turbo diesel is a little thirsty compared to the Jeep.
So we're not 100% if we go the petrol or diesel so we are off to do some back to back test driving this Saturday to see which one Nat feels more comfy in. Personally I want the the turbo diesel for obvious reasons cough, cough (tune, exhaust blah, blah you know how that story ends)
