Cheers mate! I think black at this stage mainly because the new front lip is black and pretty prominent so hoping it all matches ok.

That's a good idea too mate. No rubber strip, spaced rear bonnet and air vents = Antarctica for sure

                • Always thought of putting a vent in to let some of the hot air escape, but wasn't too sure of how it would look. Looks like your going to pull it off well

Cant wait to see the end results of the engine work, all the development and tuning your doing with Custom Code. I might have to go down the same path sometime, and steal all of your hard work and research

                  • Thanks mate! Vents with your areo bonnet latches would look mean as fcuk I have to say

Yeah, I got really lucky having Gavin recommended to me back in the early days. Can't recommend Custom Code enough, so hope to see you on the darkside one day Troy

The flashwire looks interesting as well.

Just so everyone knows as much as me. Custom-Code aren't telling us anything until the new website goes live. I did try to illicit information but got knocked back.....

It will mean I have less travelling to do. At present though I only see it being usable on ME7(polo GTI), MED9 (MK5/R) and pre 2009 TDIs.

Basically anything not anti-tune. I could be surprised though?

                              • A tale of highs and lows

                                Preamble;

So after all the previous logging and what we thought to be a decent final rod-safe tune, everyone was happy especially me. So the only thing I’ve changed to the car since hitting the dyno today is the intercooler pipework from the core to the TB. I had a feeling the new turbo was pushing so much more air this might be worth looking at from reading up about it. So from the 2" Forge pipe work to 2.5" all the way to the TB

Now to be honest I wasn’t really expecting a noticeable change in performance but surprisingly I was wrong it now spools faster and pulls even better than before, very noticeable butt dyno. So getting rid of the compression point of the 2.25” core outlet to 2” pipework has obviously paid off. It’s now pushing through 10g/s more than before when the last road logs were taken now totaling 230g/s on the dyno. But is has had an adverse effect in another area. More on that later….

And not to mention the glorious sound. The turbo whistle was already loud, so much so it was intrusive in the cabin with the windows up. I can honestly say that noise has now doubled. But don’t take my word for it, here is a vid of the dyno run that sounds like a jet engine starting up.

So one of the other lows today cam form nature. It’s the middle of Winter here so temps should be 15*C or below up here but considering everyone’s walking the streets in singlets for the past three days tells me otherwise. So driving to the dyno the cars temp gauge shows 31.5*C. Tell me the planets not f’ked?!

Anyway even with a 5*C increase in ambient temp from last time I was on this dyno I’m still very happy all things considered. Next low was the dyno itself had an upgrade since last time so my previous files have been erased, so no overlays.

So here we go with a high

                                V's

                                Then a low

Leaning-out we think due to the tune not taking the increased airflow into account since the last revision.

And now a boost spike not seen before from possibly the same reason

Gav's onto it then back to the dyno, and I know it's got more in it
