Thanks Catfish, Link has moved slightly to here

I had installed mine the other way. Compared the airflow of the 2 units. I feel pretty stupid for not having noticed the difference in the car as not being right...

The new unit should be installed in reverse (not flipping the airflow, but flipping the direction the unit faces)

How does it feel now? More powerfull and smoother turbo response (although given my reactions when first put in, I wouldn't take my advice).

Noticed the stock unit has a screw in the top, can the operation be modified?

Its a solenoid that is controlled by the cars engine ECU to adjust the bleed rate on the control line to the wastegate. The J version is often fitted to 1.8T cars that have been 'chipped' to provide a little extra boost. This is not the intended application of this part, but many people say this J valve has worked for them and given more turbo boost. Generally speaking, the J valve only works on chipped cars only. If you have a standard ECU, this part may not incease boost performance.

        Does that kind of help
it does yes, thanks for that. ok next stupid question,............who can get em?...............price?...................ok now im hijacking the thread, ill shut up after this i promise.

Through Audi it was around $100 more.

Can someone tell me which of these is the correct one .. they both have different part numbers, but claim to be N75J !

              Number 1 VAG Part - 034 906 283J

              Number 2 VAG Part - 026 906 283 J

I'm thinking the first one ... but don't want the wrong part ... thanks

First one is correct (at least that's what I got).

The part you've linked is the one I bought, same seller. Item looks as per various photos I've seen. Other one looks dodgy, and given they had issues fitting, think its not the same device.

Number 2 is a much earlier (maybe now superceded) part used mostly for VAG turbo diesels, but which certain sellers have in the past flogged as the N75 "race" valve. Beware of the low price, it's not for Polo GTIs.

Hmm something next on the shopping list. Has anyone got a boost graph? or to a lesser extent a power chart?

Thought I would add my 2 cents worth.

My pog stock N75 valve was playing up, the car was over boosting and went like a crazy thing followed by limp mode. Guy Harding lent me the N75 valve from his audi tt while he ordered another stock N75 valve for my Pog. The car then proceeded to go into limp mode with the valve from the audi tt, guessing this is the N75J valve. Don't know if this was due to another faulty valve or just it was not the correct valve for the car. My recollection was that Guy said these cars were sensitive to this valve and he wouldn't recommend anything other than the standard one. If you're looking for this valve to give you more boost and if it does, then I think you have a good chance of putting your car into limp mode.

Tthanks for that. I'll give it a go when it comes in, and if it dosn't work, I'll just get rid of it.
