  • Tramlining & Excessive Torque Steer.

    Hoyhoy.

To start with having done a few mods to the Pog. giving it some performance & then along with tracking & driving a bit hard at times the problem has risen, being excessive torque steer & tram-lining coming into play. So me started looking & found sub-frame movement, look what me found. (The shiny section around the bolt head is from the bolt moving which is one of two each side holding the sub-frame to the chassis via what I call hangers.)

    http://

The reason being these bolts holding the sub-frame are 12mm & go into 18mm holes.

    Hoyhoy.

So me had a chat with a engineer here on the Gold Coast & left it with him, here's what he came up with.

Being adjustable is another big plus.
First trail bought tears to my eyes, massive improvement, no more tramling & torque steer has been reduced by masses.
I just can't say enough in words on how good it feels, with the fair amount of HP that the Little Blue Girl has now, Its the nicest thing that I have owned & just love to take her out.
I wonder how many people have or are trying to sell their Pog's because of this reason.

Yep that's a good fix. I like it..

The reason they do this is to accommodate misalignment in the manufacturing process between different parts. Oversize holes allow for a higher tolerance and things fit together easier, basically.

Nice one Eddy that looks really good and makes heaps of sense, i love the fact that there is still adjustment so that will alllow for good fitment as VW intended but at the same time when you are happy where you are fitted , all torqued up she is tight. That with solid bushes and a well set up geometery would be a good thing.

          Hoyhoy.
Booked in on Monday coming at Ricks for a wheel alignment, we'll see what he thinks of the set-up, along with the 3 degrees negative camber & extra castor, hey.

                  Hoyhoy.

I should also say that this is not just for Polo's, but a wide range of VW's.

                        Nice work.

Is your engineer friend interested in starting a production line for these ?

I'll buy some if you head down that path.

Where are you squeezing your Camber from Eddy?

Also have some interest in the pins.
