Non competitive tracking is likely to have little effect on your car unless you choose to push it to its limits. I took my 2003 Impreza to the track and took some life off the tyres, but otherwise, no issues. Think you have a strange perception of what its like to put a car on the track.
Don't sell it without having ever played with it in a controlled environment...

Lora it's loads of fun, have you ever been to a track day? There are some places that run weekend days, actually CircuitClub just recently ran a girls only track day down at Marulan Driver Training.

Nah ive never been on a track day, although i would really like to some time. I'd like to know where I can and can't push the polo to become more confident in knowing its limits.
Hmm i might have to keep an eye out in the future - even a defensive driving course would be good fun..

You definitely don't need to drive your car to ruins to enjoy the track - even at 80% (of your car's potential and/or your own) you'll have a great time and reach straight line speeds and cornering Gs that you won't often see legally on a public road.
The only adverse affects of a sensible track day will be some more rapid consumption of fuel, rubber and brake pads - nothing you wouldn't get spending the day driving rapidly along winding public roads.
I've even tracked my (completely stock) 4WD a couple of times, and despite being a 2500kg behemoth by treating the car with respect (ie only running 7 or 8 laps at a time to avoid the tyres and brakes getting too hot) the car left the track in perfect condition.

I have been to many track days and love them.... BUT not with my car. No No way.
Track days, kill your brakes, tyres and suspension, not to mention the strain on motor and gearbox components. Your car will feel a fair bit looser for a track day. Prepare for all the maintenence bills down the track.
Yes I have tried a few 0-100km/h sprints in my car, but im not going full throttle for hours on end..
Motorsport is fun but when the cost of maintenence and component failure comes out of your pocket....thats crazy.

ive been to a few, wakefield and eastern creek. first time i went to wakefield my pog only had little over 1,500km. it is now 43,000km and still going strong. My pads and tyres obviously didn't last long, but i'm going to try and get a set of green stuffs and semis. stock ones didnt last very long on the track, esp when its a hot day.
but i have to say track days are a whole lot of fun. speeding off the streets, what more u want.APR V2 | APR Downpipe + custom catback | APR solid mount | FMIC | SEAT intake | BMC filter | FORGE 007DV | KW v1 | WHITELINE RSB
