And I thought WA was thee "police state"! Obviosuly not. From my exprience its the plain clothed detectives that drive these unmarked cars not traffic cops.
Anyway don't do anything stupid and you have nothing to fear.
Having said that though I feel like the Polo GTI is quite 'stealthy' to be honest, which is probably why its used by the police. I've done 2 really **** moves in front of cops lately and they did absolutley nothing. One time involved me being overzealous with the pedal and doing an unintentional really loud squeally at a set of lights with a paddy wagon right behind me. My heart went into my mouth expecting the blue lights to come on but he changed lanes and zoomed off in front of me. It was really quite bizarre.

It's well known amongst motorcycle riders in the Mt Glorious/Mt Nebo area just outside of Brisbane, that there is a unmarked black SS ute doing the rounds up there. The ute has a set of police lights attached to the sun visor, and another set behind the front grille.

I saw a dark grey SS ssedan on the Bruce Highway near North Lakes last weekend. He was standing on the right handside off the road and I had been toying with a Ricer in a WRX when I spotted him.

I pulled into the centre lane and politely cruised past at the speed limit. The Ricer not paying attention to anything but the fact that the annoying little Polo finally gave up rubbing his face (the Ricer's) in the fact that in 4th gear the Polo leaves a substantial gap to the WRX at every oppertunity the traffic allows ..... .... blasted past .....

only to have the unmarked SS pounce ...... I almost wet myself from laughter right there.

Sometimes the unmarked Police cars serve a purpose .....

They DO NOT have a polo GTI yet as far as im aware.. They have 2 Golf GTI's in brisbane / goldcoast.

Black one is state traffic. Dark blue one is a coomera traffic branch car.

Im pretty sure a polo is in the far too underpowered class for them. And not enough space.

Everyone knows they have commdoores and falcons.

                      but lol.

There more funnier list is this.

                      Mitsubishi EVO X
                      Hummer H3
                      300c's
                      Liberties
                      Golf Gti's
                      Lancers
                      Jetta's
                      Accord Euro
                      Normal Accord
                      XR5
                      WRX
                      Millions of Aurions

                      Edit.
I did forget to mention that headquarters in brisbane uses pretty much anything as a general duties car. But they will never pull you over ever. The cars i listed are used for traffic purposes.

I think sydney have like a "comunity police" type thing.

Id say thats what it is.

Ive seen marked tida's and pulsars in sydney.

the one i sore was 5 door, but i asumed the goverment sources, diferant countries for better fleet prices and in this particular case 5 door polo would be more useful to the cops., though the ,more i think about this, maybe it was a golf,......though i could have sworn it was a polo.
