No Audis are built in South Africa. The plant there do many VW models but nothing else.

Most Audis are made in Germany.

I know mine was, and the new A3s are etc etc.

Yeah I was also going to say don't just use the exchange rate as an indication. You will find just about every UK car is way more in $Aus than our local prices. I wish I saved the article but I was reading that VW reckon they can build the new polo for cheaper and keep the cost down so its most likely still going to be around the AUS$27K mark. Well here's hoping at least!
The Polo is also made in Spain too in case you didn't know.

That's $29,698.62 AUD, compared to our $26,990 RRP. I don't think the new GTI will be 32k. I hope not anyway. I'd say around the 28 mark would look about right. I hope its under 30! Makes me buying one easier... lol!
thats exactly what i was going to say. its not just a matter of exchange rates.

If you mention a Ford car on the forum once again you deserve a turkey slap!

Hope it actually makes it to our shores!!

BTW, one thing to remember when doing the conversion from pounds is that tax on cars in Britain are higher than here so the S1 if it were to come in should come in a bit less than $55k, same story with the new Polo, I think at most RRP would be $29,990.

Yeah, 0-100 would be great, but corners wouldn't

I wanted this S1 since I heard about it months ago, but it's kinda impractical - might have to go the R-GTI or an S3 next.

As much as I love the 135i, I won't be "allowed" to buy it as it only has 4 seats .....

I'm aming for a real Q-Car this time around .... so A4 2.0T quattro or Q5 2.0T quattro is top of my list ...... GTI-R is a strong contender and even a Tiguan is an option ... however they are both 4Motion (90:10 split) whereas the 2 Audis now have Torsen permanent AWD (40:60 split) for better traction ....

I had a look on the Opel (or Vauxhal can't remember exactly now) website a while ago and they have 6 VXR models (including the Monaro so 5 german models). The Corsa was one of the one's that stood out but the other options were impressive.

I agree, you can't beat the German build quality.

Also, You won't get me anywhere near a twincharge motor .... it has severe future tuneability issues.

My next car will likely have the 2.0T motor and AWD ...... and be from the VAG stable.....
