Money. I don't think its worth what they ask for it over the Clio 172/182.
I mean, its $36,990 + on-roads (41k d/a) with slightly more power (145kW over 131 in 182), lots more weight (1240 vs 1090), an extra gear and alot less interior features (no leather, no stacker, no auto lights, wipers etc etc, no xenons etc). 182 was $32990 + on-roads, most people were getting them for 33ish drive away.
For 197 money I'd rather get a second hand R32. Best sounding car short of a Ferrari IMO.

Yep .... 1 of 2 possible reasons .....
1. I was trying to be the pace car ..... (Not)
and
2. With stock tyres and suspension it sucks around a track ...... (True)

Drag strip? - yes
What car - BMW E36 M3 (13.1s), Opel Corsa Turbo (14.3s), MK1 Golf Turbo (12.3s), Nissan Ute with 4AGZE turbo (10.7s) and most of these repeatedly ......

That's a nice list. 13.1 from an E36 M3? 3.2? If standard, 'tis a very very good time.
How did you find the Mazda 3 MPS vs Focus XR5 (I took them out on the same day). Have you driven a Megane 225?
We found out on the Mt Nebo / Glorious cruise weekend past that there isn't too much difference between a chipped and non-chipped Polo in the twisties..
You only really notice it when pulling dead-straight up hill but the advantage of not carrying as much speed into a corner is that you can brake later

M3 was not stock. It was chipped with a nice exhaust.
MPS is far better than a XR5, pity about the limited boost in 1st and 2nd, which means a chipped Polo is quicker until mid 3rd gear ....
Drove a R26 at Gary Crick (They do Renault and VW on the Sunshine Coast) back to back with a Golf GTI. Its great, handles good and goes much quicker.
BUT it is a Renault .... and a GTI is much easier to live with on a daily basis. And much easier and cheaper to mod.

I for one recon jason would be quite considerably faster even if he was given a stock polo. Just comes down to driver.

jason was in front of me leading the cruise, spec 83 was behind me, blitzen was behind him and then shaneth was at the back.
we were all giving it a good go and jason couldn't get away from me. the only time i pulled away from spec83 (non chipped) was on the straights where my chip worked its magic. the only person falling away was shane and that was because he had the new clutch in and was taking it relatively easy.
