If Blitzen can confirm his car is the new model (after 2006) here is the answer.
Mine was one of the first...bought 2 months after the official release of the Polo GTI.
Quest's numbers are an exact match with the Ibiza Cupra's 1.8T - which has 180HP standard. What makes it hard to determine which is which is the final letter E, N etc bc there's so many different letters that Borg Warner assigns to each each VAG model.
Borg Warner's site doesn't list any of our turbos. Fed up, I rang an Australian Borg Warner distributor and asked if they could confirm the serial number - they matched Quest's number to the Cupra.
"Power wise, the K03s seems to have been maxxed out by Mike Savko at 250whp and 320wtq. This is running 27psi, loads of timing and nitro booster in his water-methanol."
so we can hit 187 kw atw, geez, we're all still got a long way to go

Yeah, mine is a August 2007 build.
"If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."
The Aussie delivered Golf has a K03 but there were DBW ones in the UK that came with a K03s and 150hp. The AUM engine Golf has a K03s and 180hp as does the Seat Leon Cupra.
I think you will find that is K03/52 (note there is no loop on the upper right side which would indicate a 5 over an 8 ) which acording to your list Neil is a 180hp turbo.... I suppose you could classify this as a K03S Also note that 8 blades are present on the pictures posted by Quest which would further indicate a K03S
The enhanced efficency also mentioned in your list would go a long way to explaining why a flashed Polo GTI will make more power than a flashed IV Golf GTI... the tune is the same it's just that the turbo deisgn is slightly more efficent
Heres a pic from mine which is a 2006 Polo GTi:
Which reads quite clearly:
06A 145 713 E
K03/82 HK 710008626
Do people think this is the 180HP?
Cheers,
Scott
Red 2006 Polo GTi : Forge Splitter - TIP - ITB - Forge Front & Rear Strut Bars - Dash Cubby - Fumoto Valve - Full Milltek Exhaust - PD160 Intake - K&N Panel - ECS Stage 1 Clutch - Seat RCA Bushes - APR Stage 1+
05 - 06 PGTi in South Africa had the K03
06 up had the K03s
I made up my own way of distinguishing the difference. (not guaranteed)
PGTis without a key hole in the bootlid have K03s, those with the keyhole have the K03.
