you probably dont want to read what i have to say after my accidental run in with you, rhys, but its true- chin up.

im a proponent of "mourning aint gonna fix anything, you gotta take the situation and make the best of it".

so hope everything works out. in a way, i'd feel abit proud- why did they pick your car out of the whole parking lot, to vandalise? obviously it commanded attention.....

but with shannons arent you only allowed to drive your car like one a fortnight? my friend wanted to get his gsx-r 750 done with them, and they laughed at him when he said he used it as a daily.....

all good mate all good, thats past now. i reckon they targeted my car, as sam (tosspot) has said before, because of the wheels and black bonnet. it does attract attention and someone who may not agree with black bonnets (as petty as it sounds) could possibly do something like this. could be anything really. i do look on the bright side and am very happy that they did not get in as there were quite a few things of decent value left inside (didn't get a chance to take them upstairs before i left). also, i'm glad that it is only one window and not a full burn out or left up on blocks.

i'm giving the windscreen bloke a call in the morning and booking the car in so i'm just hoping that it can be a quick process so i can get the monster back on the road ASAP.

          Cheers,
          Rhys

Their Motorbike insurance is only good for experinced riders and weekend stuff. Helps if you have other vehicles insured with them.

I have had my last four cars insured with them, all daily drivers, and all for their full replacement cost.

Sucks about the window mate, but as you have said, lucky it was only the glass and not fire/rims/stolen/etc!

yeah, the car looks good- i bet thats why they targeted it.

probably a bunch of jealousdrunken falcodore wankers after the races...

hmmmm- just HOW MANY boguns have you been taking down lately???

EDIT: if you own a falcodore, but you also own a veedub, then please disregard my last line- atleast you have taste.....

What a s**t - it looks like rocks thrown.

The Gold Coast is FULL of wankers and f***wits. I used to live there years ago and now when I go down there i can't believe what a s**t hole the place has turned into.

i do live there Peter....am i a wanker?? - don't answer that! i do agree with you though, hence my location name.

UPDATE: i have booked the car at Instant Windscreens tomorrow morning to get the window replaced and re-tinted. it is taking 1.5 hours for them to do it and it is costing me $320. i also got a quote from O'Briens glass and they quoted $480 for the glass to be replaced excluding tinting. the guy at Instant Windscreens gave me the price mentioned above and said he would rather i didn't go through insurance so i could keep my no claims bonus. he also said he would clean out all the glass from the interior for me.

                  Cheers,
                  Rhys

just another update guys...this is a good one. the bloke at Instant Windscreens called me today and said that the aftermarket pane of glass ordered for my car does not fit and won't be able get done for a while. he said that my car was at the "change over" year. would he be referring to the 9N2 to 9N3 changeover?? anyways, so i was advised that the aftermarket windscreen company do not make windscreens for my model and he would have to look elsewhere ...i got a phone call 10 mins later from a very happy Bevan (thats the guys name at Instant Windscreens) and he had called VW Gold Coast and they had only 1 genuine drivers side windscreen in the workshop. he has gone now to pick it up so the guys can put it in this afternoon so i can get my car back for the public holiday tomorrow. he said he won't be able to do the tint today due to the time frame and not tomorrow as it is a public holiday. he told me to bring it in on saturday for the guys to tint it, apparently doesn't take long at all.

the new cost for the genuine glass and tint is costing $400.... i'm sort of happy this happened because i'd rather the genuine glass in there anyway, and for only an extra $80. i'm surprised at this cost, i thought VW would have tried to hammer him for it. maybe it has been in the workshop for a while and they needed to get rid of it.

Sounds the goods mate...Maybe the situation for the glass at VW was...Workshop Lackey "We have a buyer for that Polo door window that has been sitting on the shelf for 6 months gathering dust..."
Workshop Foreman..."Good, f#%k it off then, it was just getting in the way, and we are running out of room to stack all of these buggered Polo GTI Gear Boxes!!"

Better than owing it on a credit card though, and next time just sleep in the car! :
