Picked up my polo gti yesterday, almost instantly i noticed it was pulling to the left slightly.I turned the steering wheel slightly to the right to keep it going in a straight line, and when i let go of the wheel it will turn to the left. will it be a simple wheel alignment or something else. I presume they take the cars for a test drive before u pick them up

Some people notice their Polo's tend to pull to the left. I believe it's a sensitivity to road camber. There's a bloke here who's tried EVERYTHING to fix it- a million alignments, offset bushes, etc, and had no luck. Mine always pulls a little left and I sort of ignore it now. On the next wheel alignment I'll ask if they can compensate a little.

You may as well start from the start and get the dealer to do an alignment for you, but this will help if that doesn't work. -

bad alignment - if they sy the alignment is fine then ask for the figures & post them here
runout in the tyre.
It should go straight on a slightly cambered road like the M5. You're in Carlton - try going down Woids Avenue with your hands off the steering wheel - you should get 50-100m with hands off. cool thanks for that brad.I was coming home via the grand pde and it just didnt feel right. if i have my steering wheel top dead centre and it still goes left i should be able to get that fixed. I f i want to go straight my steering wheel is probably about 2 to 3 cm to the right\Comment

Grand Pde has a bit of slope in a lot of places.
I think once you notice these things, you notice it all the time. If the steering wheel is slightly down on the right it seems worse.
As I said, check tyre pressures first, then go back to the dealer and get it put on the alignment rack and at least try & get the settings (front & rear).
If all else fails, East Coast Suspension & Spinning Wheels Tyres both know how to set these cars up by moving the front X-member.

To get the water to run towards the gutter most roads have camber downwards from the centre, some more than others. As suggested you should try it on a road with less camber. If it still pulls to the left then there are a number of things aligners can use, adding more caster to the LHS front, slight toe in on the LHS rear tyre, slight toe out on the RHS rear etc.
