    I read somewhere that you should not use the hand brake when parking the car after a hard brake use as it could cause the rotors to warp

      It's usually the front ones that warp, not many manufacturers have parking brake acting on the front wheels.

        You are correct, though the chances of getting them hot enough on the street then stopping immediately is unlikely. The issue is pad compound transfer to rotors. I've had that issue after track sessions resulting in a clear pad imprint to the rear rotor. For street driving, it's much less unlikely unless it's a mountain run or something.
