2015 GTi DSG - Thunk/thump when shifting from 2nd to 3rd
Yeah after sending it to VW to get looked at they reprogrammed the DSG with a new update. Had it back a month now and no issues since!
Steve,
Any chance you can find out from the dealership what the TPI is on the 'fix' please mate?
Or would you mind PM'ing me your VIN?
The service department have told me they aren't aware of a 'fix' BUT will be able to replicate if they have either of the above...
I have heard of VW's being sent to 'tuners' for DSG tunes - outside of the dealer network - by the dealership to resolve DSG issues. Any fix such as this wouldn't have a TPI but I doubt this is a widespread practice.
I can't understand if VW have a fix they are being so coy... Surely if it's as simple as a DSG software update they'd be all over it?
2015 MY15 Polo GTI 6C - Blue - DSG. SOLD 2011 MY12 Golf R - Rising Blue - 5DR - DSG - 19" Silver Talladega's - MDI - BT - Leather. SOLD July 2017
2017 MY17 Golf R - White - 5DR - DSG - sunroof
2018 MY18 Golf GTI Original - White - 3DR - DSG
What did you tell them to have them update it? Or is there an update available for the 2015 model?
Mine is a MY15 model. I took them for a drive and showed them the error. Makes sure you do this and not just get them to look for it themselves cause they will not find it, and it will just delay you an extra day.

TPI? Sorry not 100% sure what that means but by readying into it then no it is not their practice.
A DSG tune will definately fix it cause it is basically doing what VW are but "tuning" it a little as well. But if you do not want a tune then definately the VW flash is the way to go. I can send you my VIN number and details if you want. I hae all the paper work at home ready

Despite my demo of the clunk to service manager he was convinced it was my Milltek exhaust. He was so focused on the mods. to my car he did not even bother to get in contact with VW Australia. If you live in SA this dealer is definitely anti any mods. at all to your car.

Interesting mine was standard but the guy that I was in the car with demonstrating it to had a mk5 with plenty of mods so I think he ould see past them if anything.
So my girlfriends 2015 polo gti went in for its first service today and also to sort this issue out. They updated it and fiddled around and couldn't fix it. So in a month or two she will be back in for a new gearbox. hahaha

Would you be so kind as to PM me your VIN? I can then use that for the dealership to investigate & see what reason VW have reported.

they are doing false neutral 2-3 shift, anyone having a problem should see their dealer. take them for a drive hitting 3rd from 2nd half to full throttle at 5k rpm, they will attempt a relearn, reflash/update find it still does it and then replace mechatronics. its important you replicate the issue with them in the car
not sure if any of this banter is actually helping anyone, insulting those that bought a 7 speed dsg. theres other avenues to take if the dealer doesnt want to play ball. essendon VW was very helpful and helped out a few others with the same issue.
driving style and education wont help the 2-3 shift in manual mode S, seeing the dealer will
well said...
