Sports mode if great when you want to play.

Whilst the extra torque of the manual is great - I test drove both manual and DSG, there is no way a human can change gears as quick as the DS, and you don't get the amazing DSG fart. Yes there has been issues with DSG's in the past, but that's why you have warranty. Never live life in fear of something going wrong, just get in there and enjoy it and play hard.
Except when its a VW warranty

I don't think there is one manufacturer that is happy to help out on warranty, but since I have a good relationship with my dealer I'm hoping there would be no issue for any warranty claim. Even though this is my first Dub, I have bought a few Subaru's through my dealer and the same sales person. Fingers crossed that they are helpful eh.

So the fact that i have driven my GTI a total of 34km's in the past 4 weeks must mean i am crazy hey Mind you, our other car has been driven about 400km in that time.

        • Anyone that have the "Adaptive Dampers" option (Sport button) can explain a bit more about the two modes?

Someone WITHOUT that option will have only 1 mode, which is the more stiff (?) one,

and someone WITH that option will have a comfort mode, when the button is OFF, and a stiff mode (just like the ones who didnt take the option) after the button is ON.

          Did I get it correctly?

          Would appreciate your feedback

          • As my car is arriving soon, does anyone know of any places to get Polo cargo liner. OEM part is $123! Ebay only has poor quality liners and some online stores have one-size-hopefully-fit-all liners which requires surgery to fit

Although I haven't driven the dual mode set-up, I understand that is correct. Except the stiff "Sport" setting is a bit stiffer again the the sole mode in the MY15 car. There's a good description in this article: 2015 Volkswagen Polo GTI Review | CarAdvice

              • Had a weird one this morning. Car starts as per normal but have lost all display on the center stack. Can still change radio stations/volume via the steering wheel controls ect. but nothing appearing on the display.

Switch car off and on and tried everything. No difference. 2 hours later after being sitting cold it came good.

                Go figure hey

IMO, yeah but that's why I don't have project cars, spare motorbikes & spare boats. If I don't use stuff like that I sell it.

                  To each there own.

                  • I read that the MY16 come with S001 Bridgestone instead of Conti's but I picked up my late model MY15 (as I am not interested in the RVC and sports select other then the app connect) and it also comes with the S001.. Anyone else have the Bridgestones ?

                    • Yeh. Reason i got a car was there is no direct transport to my workplace even though it close. 3 trains and 2 buses plus walk. only 10km drive.

Interesting. What build/compliance is your jbounce (if you don't mind me asking)

I suppose the first batch came with Conti's ?

Anyone have an opinion on the performance of the Bridgestone vs Continental ?

After reading the article, it gave the impression that cars without the adjustable dampers where configured to be a mix between the two.

"the only car we drove not fitted with adjustable dampers – exposes the crux of the story. Intended to be a balance between ride comfort and dynamic sporting ability, the standard suspension is strongly skewed towards the latter."

But that said, im not 100% sure as I haven't driven the new polo gti yet.
