Thanks all. I have pushed full throttle when engobe has warmed up only to 4k rpm. Is this enough or do you need higher rpm? Also the article mi16 posted stated oil change is required. I was advised my first service is 1 year or 15000 kms. Has anyone serviced earlier and how so if yhe dealer says only after 1 year? Thanks all.
Current: My15 Polo Gti
Prior: RenaultSport Clio 172
Thanks for the responses so far on the sport/comfort settings.
I understand what pushing the sport setting does - my question (possibly poorly worded) was how much more comfortable than Sport is the Comfort setting. If I found the MY15 (non adjustable) suspension too hard, would the MY16 in Comfort mode be much better? Or is it only a marginal change between the modes in terms of ride comfort?
Cheers
PS: Another vote for the "run it hard" school here. I had two gen 3 2.5 Subaru Libertys. One run-in hard (by someone else) and another I bought new and babied during the run-in period. I estimate the babied one was 10-20kw down on power compared to the other. It felt really sluggish in comparison.
There was an excellent document from Ford's FPV division on running in which unfortunately I can no longer find. However, their advice was after warm up to load the engine with numerous squirts of ~half throttle up to ~4,000rpm. The important aspect was the load, not the revs. I used this technique on both my wife's Euro Accord and my GTI and both go like the clappers and use next to no oil. I'm sold.

It is a noticeable difference between normal and sport. You can still tell it has a sports suspension but its not annoying. Im in my 40's so I don't enjoy bouncing around all the time, so driving it in normal setting is very enjoyable and when you want to play chuck it in sport.
Brilliant, Sunnycoast - that was exactly what I wanted the hear, thanks. Likewise, at 57y/o I'm over a busy/jostling ride. But I still enjoy the occasional fang, so a sport/comfort setting is right up my alley. My primary concern is a compliant, smooth and comfortable ride for most of the time.
Love the white on the Polo GTI. Initially I preferred the blue, but now the white. Truth be known I probably wouldn't knock back either!
Great photis all. Cant wait to feel how it pulls after 4k. Is there the turbo sensation? Had it for 6 weeks and only done 600ks. Prob 2 months to go Until it has run in.
As the others have said, start working your way up the rev range. As long as the oil has some temp you are good to go.
edit: oil change. If you're only doing 100km/week (not sure why you bother owning a car) then you'll only be at 5200 when 1 year comes up so don't bother with an early change
Yeah I agree Manual is the way to go. Great photo's SunnyCoast_Gti. Are you guys enjoying running in Sport Mode??
Thanks mate
Sports mode if great when you want to play.
Whilst the extra torque of the manual is great - I test drove both manual and DSG, there is no way a human can change gears as quick as the DS, and you don't get the amazing DSG fart. Yes there has been issues with DSG's in the past, but that's why you have warranty. Never live life in fear of something going wrong, just get in there and enjoy it and play hard.
