  • Post-engine replacement --- automatic power windows not working??

So I've just had the engine replacement done for the GTI re: oil consumption.

Drove off the dealership to go back to work when I noticed one thing: the automatic power windows down and up aren't working for all the windows EXCEPT for the driver's.... what?

Does anyone know if they messed up the electrical wiring, or if that was a software update to the ECU or...?

    They just need basic setting.

Take it back and let them know.

This happens if you disconnect the battery (certainly happens in my Golf Mk6 anyway). If you wind the windows up and down (all the way without stopping) a few times they will fix themselves.

        Very close :p

When you disconect the battery it will remove the auto up/down on everything but the drivers window. To reset the other ones - pull up for 3 seconds on the switch for windows that aren't working (from the drivers side panel).

It should go click ckick. Then press down on the switch and the window will go down and go click click.

        And your done

Mines done that a few times due to battery disconnects. Up and down fixes them

Yes, the anti-pinch protection will need to be reset everytime the battery is disconnected or the voltage falls bellow certain level, which could happen on older battery. All you need to do is keep the power window switch pressed until the window rolls down, the same for going up and repeat at all doors, once is enough.

The dealer probably relearned the driver's window and didn't do the rest. Just let them know about the mistake, I wouldn't waste my time driving there just for that.

The feature should It should be explained in the owner's manual, it's mainly there to protect toddlers from getting their body parts (also head) caught between the door frame and the glass.

Glad I found this thread. I just had [only] the driver's door window stop auto close/open after the battery became drained.
Quickly reset using full open / close cycle. All back to normal. Thanks.
Now need to find why the battery drained..
