  • Polo GTi Replacement

Hey Guys, thinking about moving to the dark side and looking for a replacement. Not that i dont like or love the Polo GTI, but lease is coming up at the end of the year and need to cash in on a good thing. I am on a good wicket as this is my 2nd Polo GTI that replace my written off one. So looking for something different, it has to be in the same/similar price bracket, brand new, dual clutch gearbox or auto, and have 4 doors. I have one particular car in mind but looking for suggestions and ideas.

    Polo GTi Replacement

Steer away from the ford DCT as they too are having issues due to the dry clutch design. If you are after a performance hatch with 4 doors and an auto/dsg, in the same price segment with similar levels of performance, brand new, buy another polo GTI there really is nothing else like it in the same price bracket unless you're happy with a slug family hatchback.

        Yeah Gavs good point.

Spot on that's exactly the car I have been considering, the new turbo clio. Depends entirely on how it's priced.

          Nooo!!!

          But I'd suggest Golf R, Scirocco R, or RS265

Golf R is actually a door extra!

Scirocco R is a 2 door (well 2 door + Hatch). This replaced the 3 door Golf R

                  Polo GTi Replacement

There's a Megane GT 220 Wagon coming to Australia in June. Has 220 horses under the bonnet from the same 2.0l turbo from the RS265 but de-tuned. 5 doors and a big boot.
                  Manual gearbox only though.

It may be an 'RS lite' but this big bummed turbo Megane offers a strong balance of performance and practicality.

Ideally more reliable than a Polo GTI I dare say which would use a lot less oil

Toyota 86 comes in auto. 2drs but sometimes you have to compromise.

                      The Opel hot hatch?

                      Fabia vRS hatch or wagon?

FabiavRS i might as well and prefer to get another Polo

Astra GTC. It's 2 door. I think they have some shopping trolley 4 doors.

Have a look at the vRS wagon. It'll either work for you or not.

Don't forget, current Clio is polo size for golf money, new in is also dsg/DCT only and it is also a dry clutch unit. Considering it is more powerful and has more torque than the polo GTI...... Tis why I crossed it off my list.

Yeah but it's a Getrag built 6speed EDC from Nissan , with the same r&d team that worked on the R35 GTR box, so fingers crossed they get it right. But with all things new there will be bugs, hopefully they have learnt from VWs mistakes. Thus on my list still but only if its a drive away price of sub $34k which means it needs to be under $30k retail.
