Righto; my current project is to have Full DRL LED brightness whilst having the rear parkers on whilst in "0".

It's been a struggle for the Mk6's guys, but they have seemed to overcome this: VWVortex.com - Stopping LED DRL Dimming

I know another Polo guy tried and failed/no updates: VWVortex.com - Polo 6R coding changes (mainly lighting)

So I've tinkered around with byte 23 and 21, some strange results such as fogs as DRL's and nothing in parkers but have yet to find the golden byte/bit combo as yet. I'll shoot an email to Ross-Tech right now.

Jake (nomadx3 has managed to keep his TSI DRL'ed (conversion) DRL LED's at full brightness, no matter what position the light switch was in: http://www.vwwatercooled.com/forums/...tml#post929352

Also looking into disabling cold bulb diagnostics...

I'll keep you all updated for anyone interested

Hrm, interesting to hear. Did you perform any coding to make this happy happen? And I assume full brightness on both parkers and low beam?

          Will do PoloDave

Yeah Bassik's have been hard wired in to be at full brightness at all times Eddie its hasn't been enabled through coding.

Hrm. Because Xenon's have different module to halogens, guess it hasn't been discovered yet

Tried all unknown values in Byte 11 & 18 to no avail. Funky results but not what I'm trying to achieve. Also cheers for the link Jake, none worked from the A1's!!! Grr LOL!

Hmm just another way in which the polo's modules are different from other models. I would have thought the A1 and GTI would have mostly the same module considering they are the same car but I guess not

Just a few threads that are worthy of reading up on (mainly first one):

                  Polo R 6 - vag encodings

I'll be trying lots of different random ideas

Still awaiting for response by R-T, but seem rather slow to respond.

Turns out that the 2013 Polo's over here are delivered with our exact needs, now I just need to get my sticky hands on one to check the coding

Guys, Dana from R-T got back to me. Sad to say that the Polo BCM hasn't got a lot of knowledge as yet.

"Thanks for the kind words and I do apologize for the delayed reply. Unlike the Mk5 Golf based 09 and conventional 46 modules, these latest BCM controllers do not include provisions for "cold lamp" and similar individual lighting circuits. Some have LED coding options although Byte 18 is the master exterior lighting scheme but that can lead to disaster when the factory coding is masked by zeros.

The common tweaks, although limited, for this type of BCM are listed here: VW Jetta (16/AJ) Tweaks - Ross-Tech Wiki

1)> `DRL's at full brightness no matter what position the light switch is at> i.e. parkers, low beam headlight

Your vehicle does not use the PQ35 BCM .. but the Audi (A3/TT) guys have been after this since 2010 and the forum feedback varies. It seems as if experimental instrument cluster coding in conjunction with BCM coding may work in some cases. The 2012 VW Golf feedback is limited to parking light position only.

                      VWVortex.com - Audi A3 MY2011 Full brightness Parking Lights

VWVortex.com - Stopping LED DRL Dimming

I do not have any additional suggestions although please shoot an update if you happen to get it working as desired.

                      2)> `Disable Cold-Bulb diagnostics

All of the bulb diagnostic bits that are documented are included in the long coding helper so this is probably a limitation of the BCM and might not be possible. The only Adaptation channel I see related to lighting is 022 (Parking Lights) although that should turn them on/off rather than alter bulb diagnostics.

3)> `Change RHD rear tail circuit to LHD (reverse and fog swap)>
`Allow to replace indicator bulbs to LED without fast and bulb out> errors (avoid need for resistors)

If swapping the rear fog with the backup light wiring at the BCM did not resolve this you may have luck with Byte 18, although I'd encourage you to read in forum about that and any Polo specific feedback before modifications. We don't have the Polo here so I don't have any personal experience with this but the same explanation applies:

                      VWVortex.com - For those with Byte 18 issues... (MK6)

.. and RoW model feedback is here:

                      VWVortex.com - DRL's - tail lights deactivation. "

Food for thought above guys. I'll be trying lots of changes and post up an update during this week

                      Cheers,
                      Eddie

To anyone interested, Byte 18 in Cent. Electrics is considered to be the master exterior lighting scheme. As the program gives you a bold red warning about modding this module, here is a tip from Dana @ R-T:

"Since you know the real value (which is Hex 67 per the scan) modifications to Byte 18 shouldn't be difficult to reverse although I will mention .. any reports of control module damage were typically after, or a combination of the following:

Entering Hex FF (which is max at Dec 255) into Byte 18.

Scanning/coding with vehicle battery extremely low (no charger attached).

After retrofitting aftermarket Xenon lighting that the controller was not intended for.

Please do search around in forum for feedback and avoid any of the above mentioned operations. Connect a battery charger and after any modifications to the coding clear fault codes and cycle the ignition off and back on. Operate all exterior lights and scan for new (or reoccurring) faults. If anything seems odd, paste the original (or last known good) coding string back into the controller."

I hope to tinker around with this Byte without damaging this module!

If anyone grows a pair too, please let me know

sorry for the epic quote but ive had a win.

from what i have read its nothing to do with using suspect copies. there is a new ABS unit in the newer models (ESP9.0i front H02 0002) for which there isnt any descriptions for in the long coding helper (even in the current beta version).

google bit 3 of byte 17 and brush up on your italian/german.
