In my opinion, Clear, Quality, Streaming, and Bluetooth don't go together in the same sentence - but it's not bad

Sounds just as good as playing from HDD/SD/MDI for me.

I've done a few tests and there is a slight hiss with really high treble stuff (say a high female vocal) compared to the MDI (iPhone 4). You can actually lower the volume of the a2dp in the adaption section of the BT unit in VCDS. I haven't properly tested it, but I think lowering it by 2 or 4 db would make it the same as MDI.

The speakers in the Polo are really amazing.

When I installed my BT the guide had a bunch of numbers for me to type in the VCDS adaption area for it which I think were the 'best settings' for quality based on whoever worked it out testing them. Might be need for different settings in Polo v Golf v Passat though due to cabin size/characteristics?

Yeah the mic and whatnot are pre-config'd from factory, but the A2DP volume wasn't adjusted. Like I said I haven't tested it out since I'm happy with MDI + normal BT but I may make the jump when bury gets an iPhone 5 cradle out.

As for streaming music quality - there will be a loss of music quality from your phone to your car - as Bluetooth compresses and then decompresses the music. It is not lossless from your MP3/MP4/WMA music.

If you're worried about audio quality of your music and streaming it, your best bet is an MDI cable as that's what it's designed for.
Or you could always use a USB/SD card.

Does anyone know whether this thing is still attached to the MY13 Polos or have they finally seen sense and not installed it on cars which already have BT through the normal VW phone interface?

You can go to \Settings\Display on the little Touch Adapter and select Sleep Mode so the screen goes off after 15 seconds too. That way you won't have the distraction of a screen you're not even using.

Hey ill0gitech... great thread... one question though.

In your first post, the third picture seems to be a totally different Adaptor than what is shown in the first two images... is that correct?

Is this a Phone Specific Adaptor that you have installed into the original Cradle once you removed the Factory BT Module?

                          Cheers!

that was a great help... and why would you want to different ways of connecting your phone to the bloody car.

So now I understand... Remove the standard module, buy a universal cradle (if your phone is in a case), put your phone in there for safe storage and visibility and connect to the standard car Bluetooth, using the Steering wheel controls for operation.

Disconnect the extra Module (via VAGCom) so it doesn't try to take over the control of the phone
