Would the 18x9 even fit under the front guards?

I was going to make it fit. The tyre size was 235x30r18 which is a common size people are managing to fit on the polos with a simple wheel guard roll and small amount tyre stretch.

But as I said wrong PCD (think it was 5x114) or somthing like that. Shame...

This will probably sound like a noob question... I'm considering the following set up for my yet to be delivered 6R gti - any accurate advice on legality and geometry (rubbing etc) would be a great help.

          18x7.5 et38 w/ 215/35 tyres on standard springs.

Would also consider a 25/40 or 35/50 spring change in future so thoughts on that wheel/spring combo would be appreciated too.

You will be fine with that configuration.

Thanks mate. It sounded pretty manageable to me but better to be sure. Reckon there's any issue lowering it on those rims?

25/40 on 18x7.5 would be ideal but I don't think there will be a huge range of wheels to choose from in that width. Most will be 8 wide.

                  ''

Actually I've seen quite a lot of wheels in 18x7.5 when I was seeking out 18x8 at the beginning.

Anything bigger then a 17x7 will scrub from my experience if you want to got for a wider stance. I have 18x7.5 36p on 215/35 tyres and there's still minor scrub on big dips in the road and hard cornering. 17x7.5 36 with a 215/40 might just be alright but i doubt it

Either your car's not low enough or you're not driving hard enough :p

On a serious note how hard is your suspension with the h&r's?

This rubbing thing is all pertinent to how low your car is.

And the stiffness of your suspension. Like I said anything wider than standard with a 35ish offset will rub at some point or another.
