They are fine for daily drivers but if you're pushing corners at the height mine is there's some slight rubbing on the inner guards. That and traction issues (i love a spirited drive ) with the stage 1 tune and CAI I want to go to a 17 with 215 or 225 wide semi slicks.

I have stock gti rims on h&r 25/40 springs and thinking about getting 18x8 with 225/35R18 tyres all around.

At same time I don't want to be hitting the guards every minute on our cr#p roads.

Experiences from those with a similar setup?
i have 215-35's on em, truth is, the is a tad of scrub when hitting a pothole. just gotta avoid all the potholes. not much i can do about it seeing i have the 33/55 springs. the tire pokes about 5mm~ from the guard and the rim another 5mm~ past that so only advice i can give is.. invest in some coils haha

Will they clear coils and brakes front&rear?

Does anyone know anyone who's fitted the Sparco Assetto Gara 8J +48 on polo GTI?

18x8 35p on the front of mine with coilovers had about 10mm between tyre and coilover. You will probably have issues running an 8.5 and 44p

18x8.75" +30 All round on my A1. Running KW V1 Coilovers and 215/40/18 Federal 595 Tyres. Great fit + about 10mm of poke from the guards with no scrub even under heavy cornering.

ommeh, are the XXR's much lighter than your stock wheels?

Actually I have seen that car now that I think back. Yes it looks good but I don't believe for a minute that there is no rubbing on that car.

LOL I'm in the same boat as you. With our cars you'd get rubbing quite easily even with the OZ Superleggera's which or +35's and 7.5 wide...

I'd be happy to take you for a spin to prove that it doesn't. Or even record a video. Car has ZERO scrub.

Just a note for all those living in NSW
An important requirement for all replacement wheels is that the wheel track must not be increased by more than25mm beyond the maximum specified by the vehicle manufacturer for that vehicle.Where non original axle or suspension components are fitted, the offset of the wheel in relation to the axle or stub axle assembly used shall not be increased by more than 12.5mm each side of the vehicle based on the specifications of the axle components used.
                        and
Wheels up to 26mm wider than the largest optional wheel recommended by the vehicle manufacturer for the vehicle can be fitted without the need to notify the RTA.
                        2nd page - http://www.rta.nsw.gov.au/registrati...vsi09_rev4.pdf

So you can legally go 1" wider in rims than the maximum specified and maximum reduction in offset is 13mm (rounding up). If you're interested in maintaining legality that is.....

Anyone worried about "defects" shouldn't modify their cars. Everyone I'm sure is aware of the laws and mod at their own risk.

Audi A1 come with an Optional 18x8.5" +42Offset wheel so I can run my wheels no problems. Only thing is the offset but really I could tell em its +30 and they wouldn't have a clue.

This! Put quite simply, Victoria is just a 'nanny' state anyway. Laws are laws yes...but the general population in the car enthusiast arena just don't give a hoot about those stringent laws associated to vehicle modification.

                              Isn't that 18x7.5?

It's all well and good to not follow the regs... but if you have an accident and this "defects" are found you could be with insurance coverage.
